1 Samuel 27:1-12 And David said in his heart , I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul : there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines ; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel : so shall I escape out of his hand.

3 H1732 And David H3427 dwelt [H8799] H397 with Achish H1661 at Gath H582 , he and his men H376 , every man H1004 with his household H1732 , even David H8147 with his two H802 wives H293 , Ahinoam H3159 the Jezreelitess H26 , and Abigail H3762 the Carmelitess H5037 , Nabal's H802 wife.

4 H5046 And it was told [H8714] H7586 Saul H1732 that David H1272 was fled [H8804] H1661 to Gath H1245 : and he sought [H8763] H3254 no more again [H8804] [H8675] H3254 [H8686] for him.

5 H1732 And David H559 said [H8799] H397 unto Achish H4672 , If I have now found [H8804] H2580 grace H5869 in thine eyes H5414 , let them give [H8799] H4725 me a place H259 in some H5892 town H7704 in the country H3427 , that I may dwell [H8799] H5650 there: for why should thy servant H3427 dwell [H8799] H4467 in the royal H5892 city with thee?

6 H397 Then Achish H5414 gave [H8799] H6860 him Ziklag H3117 that day H6860 : wherefore Ziklag H4428 pertaineth unto the kings H3063 of Judah H3117 unto this day.

7 H4557 And the time H3117 H1732 that David H3427 dwelt [H8804] H7704 in the country H6430 of the Philistines H3117 was a full year H702 and four H2320 months.

8 H1732 And David H582 and his men H5927 went up [H8799] H6584 , and invaded [H8799] H1651 the Geshurites H1511 , and the Gezrites H6003 , and the Amalekites H2007 : for those H5769 nations were of old H3427 the inhabitants [H8802] H776 of the land H935 , as thou goest [H8800] H7793 to Shur H776 , even unto the land H4714 of Egypt.

9 H1732 And David H5221 smote [H8689] H776 the land H376 , and left neither man H802 nor woman H2421 alive [H8762] H3947 , and took away [H8804] H6629 the sheep H1241 , and the oxen H2543 , and the asses H1581 , and the camels H899 , and the apparel H7725 , and returned [H8799] H935 , and came [H8799] H397 to Achish.

10 H397 And Achish H559 said [H8799] H408 , Whither H6584 have ye made a road [H8804] H3117 to day H1732 ? And David H559 said [H8799] H5045 , Against the south H3063 of Judah H5045 , and against the south H3397 of the Jerahmeelites H5045 , and against the south H7017 of the Kenites.

11 H1732 And David H2421 saved [H8762] H376 neither man H802 nor woman H2421 alive [H8762] H935 , to bring [H8687] H1661 tidings to Gath H559 , saying [H8800] H5046 , Lest they should tell [H8686] H559 on us, saying [H8800] H6213 , So did [H8804] H1732 David H4941 , and so will be his manner H3117 all the while H3427 he dwelleth [H8804] H7704 in the country H6430 of the Philistines.

12 H397 And Achish H539 believed [H8686] H1732 David H559 , saying [H8800] H5971 , He hath made his people H3478 Israel H887 utterly [H8687] H887 to abhor [H8689] H5650 him; therefore he shall be my servant H5769 for ever.
