1 Kings 21 And it came to pass after these things , that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard , which was in Jezreel , hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.

2 H256 And Ahab H1696 spake [H8762] H5022 unto Naboth H559 , saying [H8800] H5414 , Give [H8798] H3754 me thy vineyard H1588 , that I may have it for a garden H3419 of herbs H7138 , because it is near H681 unto H1004 my house H5414 : and I will give [H8799] H2896 thee for it a better H3754 vineyard H2896 than it; or, if it seem good H5869 to thee H5414 , I will give [H8799] H4242 thee the worth H3701 of it in money.

3 H5022 And Naboth H559 said [H8799] H256 to Ahab H3068 , The LORD H2486 forbid H5414 it me, that I should give [H8800] H5159 the inheritance H1 of my fathers unto thee.

4 H256 And Ahab H935 came [H8799] H1004 into his house H5620 heavy H2198 and displeased H1697 because of the word H5022 which Naboth H3158 the Jezreelite H1696 had spoken [H8765] H559 to him: for he had said [H8799] H5414 , I will not give [H8799] H5159 thee the inheritance H1 of my fathers H7901 . And he laid him down [H8799] H4296 upon his bed H5437 , and turned away [H8686] H6440 his face H398 , and would eat [H8804] H3899 no bread.

5 H348 But Jezebel H802 his wife H935 came [H8799] H1696 to him, and said [H8762] H7307 unto him, Why is thy spirit H5620 so sad H398 , that thou eatest [H8802] H3899 no bread?

6 H1696 And he said [H8762] H1696 unto her, Because I spake [H8762] H5022 unto Naboth H3158 the Jezreelite H559 , and said [H8799] H5414 unto him, Give [H8798] H3754 me thy vineyard H3701 for money H2655 ; or else, if it please H5414 thee, I will give [H8799] H3754 thee another vineyard H559 for it: and he answered [H8799] H5414 , I will not give [H8799] H3754 thee my vineyard.

7 H348 And Jezebel H802 his wife H559 said [H8799] H6213 unto him, Dost thou now govern [H8799] H4410 the kingdom H3478 of Israel H6965 ? arise [H8798] H398 , and eat [H8798] H3899 bread H3820 , and let thine heart H3190 be merry [H8799] H5414 : I will give [H8799] H3754 thee the vineyard H5022 of Naboth H3158 the Jezreelite.

8 H3789 So she wrote [H8799] H5612 letters H256 in Ahab's H8034 name H2856 , and sealed [H8799] H2368 them with his seal H7971 , and sent [H8799] H5612 the letters H2205 unto the elders H2715 and to the nobles H5892 that were in his city H3427 , dwelling [H8802] H5022 with Naboth.

9 H3789 And she wrote [H8799] H5612 in the letters H559 , saying [H8800] H7121 , Proclaim [H8798] H6685 a fast H3427 , and set [H8685] H5022 Naboth H7218 on high H5971 among the people:

10 H3427 And set [H8685] H8147 two H582 men H1121 , sons H1100 of Belial H5749 , before him, to bear witness [H8686] H559 against him, saying [H8800] H1288 , Thou didst blaspheme [H8765] H430 God H4428 and the king H3318 . And then carry him out [H8689] H5619 , and stone [H8798] H4191 him, that he may die [H8799] .

11 H582 And the men H5892 of his city H2205 , even the elders H2715 and the nobles H3427 who were the inhabitants [H8802] H5892 in his city H6213 , did [H8799] H348 as Jezebel H7971 had sent [H8804] H3789 unto them, and as it was written [H8803] H5612 in the letters H7971 which she had sent [H8804] unto them.

12 H7121 They proclaimed [H8804] H6685 a fast H3427 , and set [H8689] H5022 Naboth H7218 on high H5971 among the people.

13 H935 And there came [H8799] H8147 in two H582 men H1121 , children H1100 of Belial H3427 , and sat [H8799] H582 before him: and the men H1100 of Belial H5749 witnessed [H8686] H5022 against him, even against Naboth H5971 , in the presence of the people H559 , saying [H8800] H5022 , Naboth H1288 did blaspheme [H8765] H430 God H4428 and the king H3318 . Then they carried him forth [H8686] H2351 out H5892 of the city H5619 , and stoned [H8799] H68 him with stones H4191 , that he died [H8799] .

14 H7971 Then they sent [H8799] H348 to Jezebel H559 , saying [H8800] H5022 , Naboth H5619 is stoned [H8795] H4191 , and is dead [H8799] .

15 H348 And it came to pass, when Jezebel H8085 heard [H8800] H5022 that Naboth H5619 was stoned [H8795] H4191 , and was dead [H8799] H348 , that Jezebel H559 said [H8799] H256 to Ahab H6965 , Arise [H8798] H3423 , take possession [H8798] H3754 of the vineyard H5022 of Naboth H3158 the Jezreelite H3985 , which he refused [H8765] H5414 to give [H8800] H3701 thee for money H5022 : for Naboth H2416 is not alive H4191 , but dead [H8804] .

16 H256 And it came to pass, when Ahab H8085 heard [H8800] H5022 that Naboth H4191 was dead [H8804] H256 , that Ahab H6965 rose up [H8799] H3381 to go down [H8800] H3754 to the vineyard H5022 of Naboth H3158 the Jezreelite H3423 , to take possession [H8800] of it.

17 H1697 And the word H3068 of the LORD H452 came to Elijah H8664 the Tishbite H559 , saying [H8800] ,

18 H6965 Arise [H8798] H3381 , go down [H8798] H7125 to meet [H8800] H256 Ahab H4428 king H3478 of Israel H8111 , which is in Samaria H3754 : behold, he is in the vineyard H5022 of Naboth H3381 , whither he is gone down [H8804] H3423 to possess [H8800] it.

19 H1696 And thou shalt speak [H8765] H559 unto him, saying [H8800] H559 , Thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H7523 , Hast thou killed [H8804] H3423 , and also taken possession [H8804] H1696 ? And thou shalt speak [H8765] H559 unto him, saying [H8800] H559 , Thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H4725 , In the place H3611 where dogs H3952 licked [H8804] H1818 the blood H5022 of Naboth H3611 shall dogs H3952 lick [H8799] H1818 thy blood, even thine.

20 H256 And Ahab H559 said [H8799] H452 to Elijah H4672 , Hast thou found [H8804] H341 me, O mine enemy [H8802] H559 ? And he answered [H8799] H4672 , I have found [H8804] H4376 thee : because thou hast sold [H8692] H6213 thyself to work [H8800] H7451 evil H5869 in the sight H3068 of the LORD.

21 H935 Behold, I will bring [H8688] H7451 evil H1197 upon thee, and will take away [H8765] H310 thy posterity H3772 , and will cut off [H8689] H256 from Ahab H8366 him that pisseth [H8688] H7023 against the wall H6113 , and him that is shut up [H8803] H5800 and left [H8803] H3478 in Israel,

22 H5414 And will make [H8804] H1004 thine house H1004 like the house H3379 of Jeroboam H1121 the son H5028 of Nebat H1004 , and like the house H1201 of Baasha H1121 the son H281 of Ahijah H3708 , for the provocation H3707 wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger [H8689] H3478 , and made Israel H2398 to sin [H8686] .

23 H348 And of Jezebel H1696 also spake [H8765] H3068 the LORD H559 , saying [H8800] H3611 , The dogs H398 shall eat [H8799] H348 Jezebel H2426 by the wall H3157 of Jezreel.

24 H4191 Him that dieth [H8801] H256 of Ahab H5892 in the city H3611 the dogs H398 shall eat [H8799] H4191 ; and him that dieth [H8801] H7704 in the field H5775 shall the fowls H8064 of the air H398 eat [H8799] .

25 H256 But there was none like unto Ahab H4376 , which did sell [H8694] H6213 himself to work [H8800] H7451 wickedness H5869 in the sight H3068 of the LORD H348 , whom Jezebel H802 his wife H5496 stirred up [H8689] .

26 H3966 And he did very H8581 abominably [H8686] H3212 in following [H8800] H310 H1544 idols H6213 , according to all things as did [H8804] H567 the Amorites H3068 , whom the LORD H3423 cast out [H8689] H6440 before H1121 the children H3478 of Israel.

27 H256 And it came to pass, when Ahab H8085 heard [H8800] H1697 those words H7167 , that he rent [H8799] H899 his clothes H7760 , and put [H8799] H8242 sackcloth H1320 upon his flesh H6684 , and fasted [H8799] H7901 , and lay [H8799] H8242 in sackcloth H1980 , and went [H8762] H328 softly.

28 H1697 And the word H3068 of the LORD H452 came to Elijah H8664 the Tishbite H559 , saying [H8800] ,

29 H7200 Seest [H8804] H256 thou how Ahab H3665 humbleth [H8738] H6440 himself before H3282 me? because H3665 he humbleth [H8738] H6440 himself before H935 me, I will not bring [H8686] H7451 the evil H3117 in his days H1121 : but in his son's H3117 days H935 will I bring [H8686] H7451 the evil H1004 upon his house.
