Numbers 4:5-33

ISV(i) 5 When the camp is about to travel, Aaron and his sons must come and take down the veil of the curtain and cover the ark of testimony with it. 6 They must set over it a leather-dyed skin covering then spread over it a cloth of pure blue and then insert its poles. 7 On the table of the bread of the Presence, they must spread a blue cloth and place over it the dishes, pans, bowls, pitchers for drink offerings, and the bread of presence must be on it continuously. 8 They must spread over these a scarlet cloth then cover the same with a leather-dyed skin covering and then insert its poles. 9 They must take a blue cloth and cover the lamp stand for the light with its lamp, lamp-snuffers, censer, and all the utensils for its oil with which they minister. 10 Then they must put them with all the utensils on the leather-dyed skin covering and set them on the beams for transport. 11 On the golden altar, they must spread a blue cloth and cover it with a leather-dyed skin covering and then insert its poles. 12 Then they must take all the utensils for service with which they minister at the sanctuary; set them on the blue cloth; cover them with the leather-dyed skin covering and then set them on the beams for transport. 13 They must also remove the ashes on the altar and spread over it a purple cloth. 14 Then they must put all the instruments with which they minister there {— } trays, forks, shovels, bowls, and all the utensils of the altar. They must spread over it a leather-dyed skin covering and then insert its poles. 15 When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all the utensils of the sanctuary, and the camp is about to travel, then the Kohathites come to carry them but they must not touch the most sacred objects lest they die. These are the duties of the Kohathites at the tent of meeting. 16 Now the duty of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest is the oil for the light, the spiced incense, the daily offerings, the oil for anointing, all the duties of the tabernacle, and the sanctuary along with all its utensils. 17 Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron: 18 Don't cut off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites. 19 But do this to them so that they may live and not die when they approach the most sacred objects. Aaron and his sons will go in and set for each of them, a responsibility to carry out. 20 But they must not go in to see the sanctuary being covered lest they die. 21 Then the LORD spoke to Moses: 22 Take also a census of the Gershonites according to their ancestral house and clans. 23 From thirty years and above to fifty years old you number them. All those who can enter the service to perform work at the tent of meeting. 24 This is the work of the Gershonites, a responsibility to carry out. 25 They must carry the curtain of the tabernacle and the covering of the tent of meeting with its leather-dyed skin covering, which is over it and the curtain for the entrance to the tent of meeting; 26 the hangings for the courtyard; and the curtain for the entrance to the gate of the courtyard, which is around the tabernacle; the altar along with their ropes and all the utensils for their service and everything made for them. Thus they are to serve. 27 The Gershonites will work according to the instruction of Aaron and his sons. And you'll assign them their responsibilities to carry out. 28 This is the work of the clans of Gershon at the tent of meeting {— } their duties under the supervision of Ithamar, the son of Aaron the priest. 29 For the Merarites, number them according to their clans and ancestral house. 30 From thirty years and above to fifty years old, you number them. All those who can enter the service to perform work at the tent of meeting. 31 And this is their responsibility to carry out with respect to their service at the tent of meeting: the board of the tabernacle, its bars, its crossbars, its sockets, 32 the pillars around the courtyard and their sockets, their pegs, their ropes, and all the utensils for all their services. Assign by names the utensils each is responsible to carry. 33 This is the work of the clans of the Merarites with reference to their service at the tent of meeting under the supervision of Ithamar, the son of Aaron the priest.
