Joshua 7 וימעלו committed בני But the children ישׂראל of Israel מעל a trespass בחרם in the accursed thing: ויקח took עכן for Achan, בן the son כרמי of Carmi, בן the son זבדי of Zabdi, בן the son זרח of Zerah, למטה of the tribe יהודה of Judah, מן of החרם the accursed thing: ויחר was kindled אף and the anger יהוה of the LORD בבני against the children ישׂראל׃ of Israel.

1 H4603 וימעלו committed H1121 בני But the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H4604 מעל a trespass H2764 בחרם in the accursed thing: H3947 ויקח took H5912 עכן for Achan, H1121 בן the son H3756 כרמי of Carmi, H1121 בן the son H2067 זבדי of Zabdi, H1121 בן the son H2226 זרח of Zerah, H4294 למטה of the tribe H3063 יהודה of Judah, H4480 מן of H2764 החרם the accursed thing: H2734 ויחר was kindled H639 אף and the anger H3068 יהוה of the LORD H1121 בבני against the children H3478 ישׂראל׃ of Israel.

2 H7971 וישׁלח sent H3091 יהושׁע And Joshua H376 אנשׁים men H3405 מיריחו H5857 העי to Ai, H834 אשׁר which H5973 עם beside H1007 בית און Beth-aven, H6924 מקדם on the east side H1008 לבית אל of Bethel, H559 ויאמר and spoke H413 אליהם unto H559 לאמר them, saying, H5927 עלו Go up H7270 ורגלו and view H853 את H776 הארץ the country. H5927 ויעלו went up H376 האנשׁים And the men H7270 וירגלו and viewed H853 את H5857 העי׃ Ai.

3 H7725 וישׁבו And they returned H413 אל to H3091 יהושׁע Joshua, H559 ויאמרו and said H413 אליו unto H408 אל him, Let not H5927 יעל go up; H3605 כל all H5971 העם the people H505 כאלפים but let about two H376 אישׁ men H176 או or H7969 כשׁלשׁת three H505 אלפים thousand H376 אישׁ H5927 יעלו go up H5221 ויכו and smite H853 את H5857 העי Ai; H408 אל make not H3021 תיגע to labor H8033 שׁמה thither; H853 את H3605 כל all H5971 העם the people H3588 כי for H4592 מעט few. H1992 המה׃ they

4 H5927 ויעלו So there went up H4480 מן of H5971 העם the people H8033 שׁמה thither H7969 כשׁלשׁת about three H505 אלפים thousand H376 אישׁ men: H5127 וינסו and they fled H6440 לפני before H376 אנשׁי the men H5857 העי׃ of Ai.

5 H5221 ויכו smote H1992 מהם H582 אנשׁי H5857 העי of Ai H7970 כשׁלשׁים them about thirty H8337 ושׁשׁה and six H376 אישׁ And the men H7291 וירדפום for they chased H6440 לפני them before H8179 השׁער the gate H5704 עד unto H7671 השׁברים Shebarim, H5221 ויכום and smote H4174 במורד them in the going down: H4549 וימס melted, H3824 לבב wherefore the hearts H5971 העם of the people H1961 ויהי and became H4325 למים׃ as water.

6 H7167 ויקרע rent H3091 יהושׁע And Joshua H8071 שׂמלתיו his clothes, H5307 ויפל and fell H5921 על upon H6440 פניו his face H776 ארצה to the earth H6440 לפני before H727 ארון the ark H3068 יהוה of the LORD H5704 עד until H6153 הערב the eventide, H1931 הוא he H2205 וזקני and the elders H3478 ישׂראל of Israel, H5927 ויעלו and put H6083 עפר dust H5921 על upon H7218 ראשׁם׃ their heads.

7 H559 ויאמר said, H3091 יהושׁע And Joshua H162 אהה Alas, H136 אדני O Lord H3069 יהוה GOD, H4100 למה wherefore H5674 העברת hast thou at all brought H5674 העביר hast thou at all brought H853 את H5971 העם people H2088 הזה this H853 את H3383 הירדן Jordan, H5414 לתת to deliver H853 אתנו H3027 ביד us into the hand H567 האמרי of the Amorites, H6 להאבידנו to destroy H3863 ולו us? would to God H2974 הואלנו we had been content, H3427 ונשׁב and dwelt H5676 בעבר on the other side H3383 הירדן׃ Jordan!

8 H994 בי O H136 אדני Lord, H4100 מה what H559 אמר shall I say, H310 אחרי when H834 אשׁר when H2015 הפך turneth H3478 ישׂראל Israel H6203 ערף their backs H6440 לפני before H341 איביו׃ their enemies!

9 H8085 וישׁמעו shall hear H3669 הכנעני For the Canaanites H3605 וכל and all H3427 ישׁבי the inhabitants H776 הארץ of the land H5437 ונסבו and shall environ us round, H5921 עלינו , and shall environ us round, H3772 והכריתו and cut off H853 את H8034 שׁמנו our name H4480 מן from H776 הארץ the earth: H4100 ומה and what H6213 תעשׂה wilt thou do H8034 לשׁמך name? H1419 הגדול׃ unto thy great

10 H559 ויאמר said H3068 יהוה And the LORD H413 אל unto H3091 יהושׁע Joshua, H6965 קם Get thee up; H4100 לך למה wherefore H2088 זה thus H859 אתה thou H5307 נפל liest H5921 על upon H6440 פניך׃ thy face?

11 H2398 חטא hath sinned, H3478 ישׂראל Israel H1571 וגם and they have also H5674 עברו transgressed H853 את H1285 בריתי my covenant H834 אשׁר which H6680 צויתי I commanded H853 אותם H1571 וגם them: for they have even H3947 לקחו taken H4480 מן of H2764 החרם the accursed thing, H1571 וגם and have also H1589 גנבו stolen, H1571 וגם also, H3584 כחשׁו and dissembled H1571 וגם even H7760 שׂמו and they have put H3627 בכליהם׃ among their own stuff.

12 H3808 ולא not H3201 יכלו could H1121 בני Therefore the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H6965 לקום stand H6440 לפני before H341 איביהם their enemies, H6203 ערף backs H6437 יפנו turned H6440 לפני before H341 איביהם their enemies, H3588 כי because H1961 היו they were H2764 לחרם accursed: H3808 לא neither H3254 אוסיף you any more, H1961 להיות will I be H5973 עמכם with H518 אם except H3808 לא except H8045 תשׁמידו ye destroy H2764 החרם the accursed H7130 מקרבכם׃ from among

13 H6965 קם Up, H6942 קדשׁ sanctify H853 את H5971 העם the people, H559 ואמרת and say, H6942 התקדשׁו Sanctify yourselves H4279 למחר against tomorrow: H3588 כי for H3541 כה thus H559 אמר saith H3068 יהוה the Lord H430 אלהי God H3478 ישׂראל of Israel. H2764 חרם an accursed thing H7130 בקרבך in the midst H3478 ישׂראל of thee, O Israel: H3808 לא not H3201 תוכל thou canst H6965 לקום stand H6440 לפני before H341 איביך thine enemies, H5704 עד until H5493 הסירכם ye take away H2764 החרם the accursed thing H7130 מקרבכם׃ from among

14 H7126 ונקרבתם therefore ye shall be brought H1242 בבקר In the morning H7626 לשׁבטיכם according to your tribes: H1961 והיה and it shall be, H7626 השׁבט the tribe H834 אשׁר which H3920 ילכדנו taketh H3068 יהוה the LORD H7126 יקרב shall come H4940 למשׁפחות according to the families H4940 והמשׁפחה and the family H834 אשׁר which H3920 ילכדנה shall take H3068 יהוה the LORD H7126 תקרב shall come H1004 לבתים by households; H1004 והבית and the household H834 אשׁר which H3920 ילכדנו shall take H3068 יהוה the LORD H7126 יקרב shall come H1397 לגברים׃ man by man.

15 H1961 והיה And it shall be, H3920 הנלכד he that is taken H2764 בחרם with the accursed thing H8313 ישׂרף shall be burnt H784 באשׁ with fire, H853 אתו H853 ואת H3605 כל he and all H834 אשׁר that H3588 לו כי he hath: because H5674 עבר he hath transgressed H853 את H1285 ברית the covenant H3068 יהוה of the LORD, H3588 וכי and because H6213 עשׂה he hath wrought H5039 נבלה folly H3478 בישׂראל׃ in Israel.

16 H7925 וישׁכם rose up early H3091 יהושׁע So Joshua H1242 בבקר in the morning, H7126 ויקרב and brought H853 את H3478 ישׂראל Israel H7626 לשׁבטיו by their tribes; H3920 וילכד was taken: H7626 שׁבט and the tribe H3063 יהודה׃ of Judah

17 H7126 ויקרב And he brought H853 את H4940 משׁפחת the family H3063 יהודה of Judah; H3920 וילכד and he took H853 את H4940 משׁפחת the family H2227 הזרחי of the Zarhites: H7126 ויקרב and he brought H853 את H4940 משׁפחת the family H2227 הזרחי of the Zarhites H1397 לגברים man by man; H3920 וילכד was taken: H2067 זבדי׃ and Zabdi

18 H7126 ויקרב And he brought H853 את H1004 ביתו his household H1397 לגברים man by man; H3920 וילכד was taken. H5912 עכן and Achan, H1121 בן the son H3756 כרמי of Carmi, H1121 בן the son H2067 זבדי of Zabdi, H1121 בן the son H2226 זרח of Zerah, H4294 למטה of the tribe H3063 יהודה׃ of Judah,

19 H559 ויאמר said H3091 יהושׁע And Joshua H413 אל unto H5912 עכן Achan, H1121 בני My son, H7760 שׂים give, H4994 נא I pray thee, H3519 כבוד glory H3068 ליהוה to the LORD H430 אלהי God H3478 ישׂראל of Israel, H5414 ותן and make H8426 לו תודה confession H5046 והגד unto him; and tell H4994 נא me now H4100 לי מה what H6213 עשׂית thou hast done; H408 אל not H3582 תכחד hide H4480 ממני׃ from

20 H6030 ויען answered H5912 עכן And Achan H853 את H3091 יהושׁע Joshua, H559 ויאמר and said, H546 אמנה Indeed H595 אנכי I H2398 חטאתי have sinned H3068 ליהוה against the LORD H430 אלהי God H3478 ישׂראל of Israel, H2063 וכזאת and thus H2063 וכזאת and thus H6213 עשׂיתי׃ have I done:

21 H7200 ואראה When I saw H7998 בשׁלל among the spoils H155 אדרת garment, H8152 שׁנער Babylonish H259 אחת a H2896 טובה goodly H3967 ומאתים and two hundred H8255 שׁקלים shekels H3701 כסף of silver, H3956 ולשׁון wedge H2091 זהב of gold H259 אחד and a H2572 חמשׁים of fifty H8255 שׁקלים shekels H4948 משׁקלו weight, H2530 ואחמדם then I coveted H3947 ואקחם them, and took H2009 והנם them; and, behold, H2934 טמונים they hid H776 בארץ in the earth H8432 בתוך in the midst H168 האהלי of my tent, H3701 והכסף and the silver H8478 תחתיה׃ under

22 H7971 וישׁלח sent H3091 יהושׁע So Joshua H4397 מלאכים messengers, H7323 וירצו and they ran H168 האהלה unto the tent; H2009 והנה and, behold, H2934 טמונה hid H168 באהלו in his tent, H3701 והכסף and the silver H8478 תחתיה׃ under

23 H3947 ויקחום And they took H8432 מתוך them out of the midst H168 האהל of the tent, H935 ויבאום and brought H413 אל them unto H3091 יהושׁע Joshua, H413 ואל and unto H3605 כל all H1121 בני the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel, H3332 ויצקם and laid them out H6440 לפני before H3068 יהוה׃ the LORD.

24 H3947 ויקח him, took H3091 יהושׁע And Joshua, H853 את H5912 עכן Achan H1121 בן the son H2226 זרח of Zerah, H853 ואת H3701 הכסף and the silver, H853 ואת H155 האדרת and the garment, H853 ואת H3956 לשׁון and the wedge H2091 הזהב of gold, H853 ואת H1121 בניו and his sons, H853 ואת H1323 בנתיו and his daughters, H853 ואת H7794 שׁורו and his oxen, H853 ואת H2543 חמרו and his asses, H853 ואת H6629 צאנו and his sheep, H853 ואת H168 אהלו and his tent, H853 ואת H3605 כל and all H834 אשׁר that H3605 לו וכל and all H3478 ישׂראל Israel H5973 עמו with H5927 ויעלו he had: and they brought H853 אתם H6010 עמק them unto the valley H5911 עכור׃ of Achor.

25 H559 ויאמר said, H3091 יהושׁע And Joshua H4100 מה Why H5916 עכרתנו hast thou troubled H5916 יעכרך shall trouble H3068 יהוה us? the LORD H3117 ביום day. H2088 הזה thee this H7275 וירגמו after they had stoned H853 אתו H3605 כל And all H3478 ישׂראל Israel H68 אבן him with stones, H8313 וישׂרפו and burned H853 אתם H784 באשׁ them with fire, H5619 ויסקלו stoned H853 אתם H68 באבנים׃ them with stones.

26 H6965 ויקימו And they raised H5921 עליו over H1530 גל heap H68 אבנים of stones H1419 גדול him a great H5704 עד unto H3117 היום day. H2088 הזה this H7725 וישׁב turned H3068 יהוה So the LORD H2740 מחרון from the fierceness H639 אפו of his anger. H5921 על H3651 כן H7121 קרא was called, H8034 שׁם the name H4725 המקום place H1931 ההוא of that H6010 עמק The valley H5911 עכור of Achor, H5704 עד unto H3117 היום day. H2088 הזה׃ this
