Joshua 4:5-24 ויאמר said להם יהושׁע And Joshua עברו unto them, Pass over לפני before ארון the ark יהוה of the LORD אלהיכם your God אל into תוך the midst הירדן of Jordan, והרימו and take ye up לכם אישׁ every man אבן stone אחת of you a על upon שׁכמו his shoulder, למספר according unto the number שׁבטי of the tribes בני of the children ישׂראל׃ of Israel:

5 H559 ויאמר said H3091 להם יהושׁע And Joshua H5674 עברו unto them, Pass over H6440 לפני before H727 ארון the ark H3068 יהוה of the LORD H430 אלהיכם your God H413 אל into H8432 תוך the midst H3383 הירדן of Jordan, H7311 והרימו and take ye up H376 לכם אישׁ every man H68 אבן stone H259 אחת of you a H5921 על upon H7926 שׁכמו his shoulder, H4557 למספר according unto the number H7626 שׁבטי of the tribes H1121 בני of the children H3478 ישׂראל׃ of Israel:

6 H4616 למען That H1961 תהיה may be H2063 זאת this H226 אות a sign H7130 בקרבכם among H3588 כי you, when H7592 ישׁאלון ask H1121 בניכם your children H4279 מחר in time to come, H559 לאמר saying, H4100 מה What H68 האבנים stones? H428 האלה׃ ye by these

7 H559 ואמרתם Then ye shall answer H834 להם אשׁר them, That H3772 נכרתו were cut off H4325 מימי the waters H3383 הירדן of Jordan H6440 מפני before H727 ארון the ark H1285 ברית of the covenant H3068 יהוה of the LORD; H5674 בעברו when it passed over H3383 בירדן Jordan, H3772 נכרתו were cut off: H4325 מי the waters H3383 הירדן of Jordan H1961 והיו shall be H68 האבנים stones H428 האלה and these H2146 לזכרון for a memorial H1121 לבני unto the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H5704 עד forever. H5769 עולם׃ forever.

8 H6213 ויעשׂו did H3651 כן so H1121 בני And the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H834 כאשׁר as H6680 צוה commanded, H3091 יהושׁע Joshua H5375 וישׂאו and took up H8147 שׁתי twelve H6240 עשׂרה twelve H68 אבנים stones H8432 מתוך out of the midst H3383 הירדן of Jordan, H834 כאשׁר as H1696 דבר spoke H3068 יהוה the LORD H413 אל unto H3091 יהושׁע Joshua, H4557 למספר according to the number H7626 שׁבטי of the tribes H1121 בני of the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel, H5674 ויעברום and carried them over H5973 עמם with H413 אל them unto H4411 המלון the place where they lodged, H3240 וינחום H8033 שׁם׃ there.

9 H8147 ושׁתים twelve H6240 עשׂרה twelve H68 אבנים stones H6965 הקים set up H3091 יהושׁע And Joshua H8432 בתוך in the midst H3383 הירדן of Jordan, H8478 תחת in the place H4673 מצב stood: H7272 רגלי where the feet H3548 הכהנים of the priests H5375 נשׂאי which bore H727 ארון the ark H1285 הברית of the covenant H1961 ויהיו and they are H8033 שׁם there H5704 עד unto H3117 היום day. H2088 הזה׃ this

10 H3548 והכהנים For the priests H5375 נשׂאי which bore H727 הארון the ark H5975 עמדים stood H8432 בתוך in the midst H3383 הירדן of Jordan, H5704 עד until H8552 תם was finished H3605 כל every thing H1697 הדבר every thing H834 אשׁר that H6680 צוה commanded H3068 יהוה the LORD H853 את H3091 יהושׁע Joshua H1696 לדבר to speak H413 אל unto H5971 העם the people, H3605 ככל according to all H834 אשׁר that H6680 צוה commanded H4872 משׁה Moses H853 את H3091 יהושׁע Joshua: H4116 וימהרו hasted H5971 העם and the people H5674 ויעברו׃ and passed over.

11 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass, H834 כאשׁר when H8552 תם were clean H3605 כל all H5971 העם the people H5674 לעבור passed over, H5674 ויעבר passed over, H727 ארון that the ark H3068 יהוה of the LORD H3548 והכהנים and the priests, H6440 לפני in the presence H5971 העם׃ of the people.

12 H5674 ויעברו passed over H1121 בני And the children H7205 ראובן of Reuben, H1121 ובני and the children H1410 גד of Gad, H2677 וחצי and half H7626 שׁבט the tribe H4519 המנשׁה of Manasseh, H2571 חמשׁים armed H6440 לפני before H1121 בני the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel, H834 כאשׁר as H1696 דבר spoke H413 אליהם unto H4872 משׁה׃ Moses

13 H705 כארבעים About forty H505 אלף thousand H2502 חלוצי prepared H6635 הצבא for war H5674 עברו passed over H6440 לפני before H3068 יהוה the LORD H4421 למלחמה unto battle, H413 אל to H6160 ערבות the plains H3405 יריחו׃ of Jericho.

14 H3117 ביום day H1931 ההוא On that H1431 גדל magnified H3068 יהוה the LORD H853 את H3091 יהושׁע Joshua H5869 בעיני in the sight H3605 כל of all H3478 ישׂראל Israel; H3372 ויראו and they feared H853 אתו H834 כאשׁר him, as H3372 יראו they feared H853 את H4872 משׁה Moses, H3605 כל all H3117 ימי the days H2416 חייו׃ of his life.

15 H559 ויאמר spoke H3068 יהוה And the LORD H413 אל unto H3091 יהושׁע Joshua, H559 לאמר׃ saying,

16 H6680 צוה Command H853 את H3548 הכהנים the priests H5375 נשׂאי that bear H727 ארון the ark H5715 העדות of the testimony, H5927 ויעלו that they come up H4480 מן out of H3383 הירדן׃ Jordan.

17 H6680 ויצו therefore commanded H3091 יהושׁע Joshua H853 את H3548 הכהנים the priests, H559 לאמר saying, H5927 עלו Come ye up H4480 מן out of H3383 הירדן׃ Jordan.

18 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass, H5927 בעלות were come up H3548 הכהנים when the priests H5375 נשׂאי that bore H727 ארון the ark H1285 ברית of the covenant H3068 יהוה of the LORD H8432 מתוך out of the midst H3383 הירדן of Jordan, H5423 נתקו were lifted up H3709 כפות the soles H7272 רגלי feet H3548 הכהנים of the priests' H413 אל unto H2724 החרבה the dry land, H7725 וישׁבו returned H4325 מי that the waters H3383 הירדן of Jordan H4725 למקומם unto their place, H1980 וילכו and flowed H8543 כתמול as H8032 שׁלשׁום before. H5921 על over H3605 כל all H1415 גדותיו׃ his banks,

19 H5971 והעם And the people H5927 עלו came up H4480 מן out of H3383 הירדן Jordan H6218 בעשׂור on the tenth H2320 לחדשׁ month, H7223 הראשׁון of the first H2583 ויחנו and encamped H1537 בגלגל in Gilgal, H7097 בקצה border H4217 מזרח in the east H3405 יריחו׃ of Jericho.

20 H853 ואת H8147 שׁתים twelve H6240 עשׂרה twelve H68 האבנים stones, H428 האלה And those H834 אשׁר which H3947 לקחו they took H4480 מן out of H3383 הירדן Jordan, H6965 הקים pitch H3091 יהושׁע did Joshua H1537 בגלגל׃ in Gilgal.

21 H559 ויאמר And he spoke H413 אל unto H1121 בני the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel, H559 לאמר saying, H834 אשׁר When H7592 ישׁאלון shall ask H1121 בניכם your children H4279 מחר in time to come, H853 את H1 אבותם their fathers H559 לאמר saying, H4100 מה What H68 האבנים stones? H428 האלה׃ these

22 H3045 והודעתם know, H853 את H1121 בניכם Then ye shall let your children H559 לאמר saying, H3004 ביבשׁה on dry land. H5674 עבר came over H3478 ישׂראל Israel H853 את H3383 הירדן Jordan H2088 הזה׃ this

23 H834 אשׁר For H3001 הובישׁ dried up H3068 יהוה the LORD H430 אלהיכם your God H853 את H4325 מי the waters H3383 הירדן of Jordan H6440 מפניכם from before H5704 עד you, until H5674 עברכם ye were passed over, H834 כאשׁר as H6213 עשׂה did H3068 יהוה the LORD H430 אלהיכם your God H3220 לים sea, H5488 סוף to the Red H834 אשׁר which H3001 הובישׁ he dried up H6440 מפנינו from before H5704 עד us, until H5674 עברנו׃ we were gone over:

24 H4616 למען That H1847 דעת H3605 כל all H5971 עמי the people H776 הארץ of the earth H853 את H3027 יד the hand H3068 יהוה of the LORD, H3588 כי that H2389 חזקה mighty: H1931 היא it H4616 למען that H3372 יראתם ye might fear H853 את H3068 יהוה the LORD H430 אלהיכם your God H3605 כל forever. H3117 הימים׃ forever.
