Esther 3:1-15

  1 H310 אחר After H1697 הדברים things H428 האלה these H1431 גדל promote H4428 המלך did king H325 אחשׁורושׁ Ahasuerus H853 את   H2001 המן Haman H1121 בן the son H4099 המדתא of Hammedatha H91 האגגי the Agagite, H5375 וינשׂאהו and advanced H7760 וישׂם him, and set H853 את   H3678 כסאו his seat H5921 מעל above H3605 כל all H8269 השׂרים the princes H834 אשׁר that H854 אתו׃ with

  2 H3605 וכל And all H5650 עבדי servants, H4428 המלך the king's H834 אשׁר that H8179 בשׁער gate, H4428 המלך in the king's H3766 כרעים bowed, H7812 ומשׁתחוים and reverenced H2001 להמן Haman: H3588 כי for H3651 כן had so H6680 צוה commanded H4428 לו המלך the king H4782 ומרדכי concerning him. But Mordecai H3808 לא not, H3766 יכרע bowed H3808 ולא nor H7812 ישׁתחוה׃ did reverence.

  3 H559 ויאמרו said H5650 עבדי servants, H4428 המלך Then the king's H834 אשׁר which H8179 בשׁער gate, H4428 המלך in the king's H4782 למרדכי unto Mordecai, H4069 מדוע Why H859 אתה thou H5674 עובר transgressest H853 את   H4687 מצות commandment? H4428 המלך׃ the king's

  4 H1961 ויהי Now it came to pass, H559 באמרם when they spoke H413 אליו unto H3117 יום daily H3117 ויום daily H3808 ולא not H8085 שׁמע him, and he hearkened H413 אליהם unto H5046 ויגידו them, that they told H2001 להמן Haman, H7200 לראות to see H5975 היעמדו would stand: H1697 דברי matters H4782 מרדכי whether Mordecai's H3588 כי for H5046 הגיד he had told H1992 להם   H834 אשׁר them that H1931 הוא he H3064 יהודי׃ a Jew.

  5 H7200 וירא saw H2001 המן And when Haman H3588 כי that H369 אין not, H4782 מרדכי Mordecai H3766 כרע bowed H7812 ומשׁתחוה nor did him reverence, H4390 לו וימלא full H2001 המן then was Haman H2534 חמה׃ of wrath.

  6 H959 ויבז scorn H5869 בעיניו And he thought H7971 לשׁלח to lay H3027 יד hands H4782 במרדכי on Mordecai H905 לבדו alone; H3588 כי for H5046 הגידו they had showed H853 לו את   H5971 עם him the people H4782 מרדכי of Mordecai: H1245 ויבקשׁ sought H2001 המן wherefore Haman H8045 להשׁמיד to destroy H853 את   H3605 כל all H3064 היהודים the Jews H834 אשׁר that H3605 בכל throughout the whole H4438 מלכות kingdom H325 אחשׁורושׁ of Ahasuerus, H5971 עם the people H4782 מרדכי׃ of Mordecai.

  7 H2320 בחדשׁ month, H7223 הראשׁון In the first H1931 הוא that H2320 חדשׁ the month H5212 ניסן Nisan, H8141 בשׁנת year H8147 שׁתים in the twelfth H6240 עשׂרה in the twelfth H4428 למלך of king H325 אחשׁורושׁ Ahasuerus, H5307 הפיל they cast H6332 פור Pur, H1931 הוא that H1486 הגורל the lot, H6440 לפני before H2001 המן Haman H3117 מיום from day H3117 ליום to day, H2320 ומחדשׁ and from month H2320 לחדשׁ to month, H8147 שׁנים the twelfth H6240 עשׂר the twelfth H1931 הוא that H2320 חדשׁ the month H143 אדר׃ Adar.

  8 H559 ויאמר said H2001 המן And Haman H4428 למלך unto king H325 אחשׁורושׁ Ahasuerus, H3426 ישׁנו There is H5971 עם people H259 אחד a certain H6340 מפזר scattered abroad H6504 ומפרד and dispersed H996 בין among H5971 העמים the people H3605 בכל in all H4082 מדינות the provinces H4438 מלכותך of thy kingdom; H1881 ודתיהם and their laws H8138 שׁנות diverse H3605 מכל from all H5971 עם people; H853 ואת   H1881 דתי laws: H4428 המלך they the king's H369 אינם neither H6213 עשׂים keep H4428 ולמלך for the king's H369 אין therefore it not H7737 שׁוה profit H3240 להניחם׃  

  9 H518 אם If H5921 על it please H4428 המלך the king, H2895 טוב it please H3789 יכתב let it be written H6 לאבדם that they may be destroyed: H6235 ועשׂרת ten H505 אלפים thousand H3603 ככר talents H3701 כסף of silver H8254 אשׁקול and I will pay H5921 על to H3027 ידי the hands H6213 עשׂי of those that have the charge H4399 המלאכה of the business, H935 להביא to bring H413 אל into H1595 גנזי treasuries. H4428 המלך׃ the king's

  10 H5493 ויסר took H4428 המלך And the king H853 את   H2885 טבעתו his ring H5921 מעל from H3027 ידו his hand, H5414 ויתנה and gave H2001 להמן it unto Haman H1121 בן the son H4099 המדתא of Hammedatha H91 האגגי the Agagite, H6887 צרר enemy. H3064 היהודים׃ the Jews'

  11 H559 ויאמר said H4428 המלך And the king H2001 להמן unto Haman, H3701 הכסף The silver H5414 נתון given H5971 לך והעם to thee, the people H6213 לעשׂות also, to do H2896 בו כטוב   H5869 בעיניך׃ with them as it seemeth good to thee.

  12 H7121 ויקראו called H5608 ספרי scribes H4428 המלך Then were the king's H2320 בחדשׁ month, H7223 הראשׁון of the first H7969 בשׁלושׁה on the thirteenth H6240 עשׂר on the thirteenth H3117 יום day H3789 בו ויכתב and there was written H3605 ככל according to all H834 אשׁר that H6680 צוה had commanded H2001 המן Haman H413 אל unto H323 אחשׁדרפני lieutenants, H4428 המלך the king's H413 ואל and to H6346 הפחות the governors H834 אשׁר that H5921 על over H4082 מדינה every province, H4082 ומדינה every province, H413 ואל and to H8269 שׂרי the rulers H5971 עם of every people H5971 ועם of every people H4082 מדינה of every province H4082 ומדינה of every province H3791 ככתבה according to the writing H5971 ועם thereof, and every people H5971 ועם thereof, and every people H3956 כלשׁונו after their language; H8034 בשׁם in the name H4428 המלך of king H325 אחשׁורשׁ Ahasuerus H3789 נכתב was it written, H2856 ונחתם and sealed H2885 בטבעת ring.   13 H7971 ונשׁלוח were sent H5612 ספרים And the letters H3027 ביד by H7323 הרצים posts H413 אל into H3605 כל all H4082 מדינות provinces, H4428 המלך the king's H8045 להשׁמיד to destroy, H2026 להרג to kill, H6 ולאבד and to cause to perish, H853 את   H3605 כל all H3064 היהודים Jews, H5288 מנער both young H5704 ועד and H2205 זקן old, H2945 טף little children H802 ונשׁים and women, H3117 ביום day, H259 אחד in one H7969 בשׁלושׁה upon the thirteenth H6240 עשׂר upon the thirteenth H2320 לחדשׁ month, H8147 שׁנים of the twelfth H6240 עשׂר of the twelfth H1931 הוא which H2320 חדשׁ is the month H143 אדר Adar, H7998 ושׁללם and the spoil H962 לבוז׃ of them for a prey.

  14 H6572 פתשׁגן The copy H3791 הכתב of the writing H5414 להנתן to be given H1881 דת for a commandment H3605 בכל in every H4082 מדינה province H4082 ומדינה province H1540 גלוי was published H3605 לכל unto all H5971 העמים people, H1961 להיות that they should be H6264 עתדים ready H3117 ליום day.   15 H7323 הרצים The posts H3318 יצאו went out, H1765 דחופים being hastened H1697 בדבר commandment, H4428 המלך by the king's H1881 והדת and the decree H5414 נתנה was given H7800 בשׁושׁן in Shushan H1002 הבירה the palace. H4428 והמלך And the king H2001 והמן and Haman H3427 ישׁבו sat down H8354 לשׁתות to drink; H5892 והעיר but the city H7800 שׁושׁן Shushan H943 נבוכה׃ was perplexed.
