2 Samuel 11 ויהי And it came to pass, לתשׁובת was expired, השׁנה after the year לעת at the time צאת go forth המלאכים when kings וישׁלח sent דוד that David את יואב Joab, ואת עבדיו and his servants עמו with ואת כל him, and all ישׂראל Israel; וישׁחתו and they destroyed את בני the children עמון of Ammon, ויצרו and besieged על and besieged רבה Rabbah. ודוד But David יושׁב tarried בירושׁלם׃ still at Jerusalem.

H1732 ודוד But David H3427 יושׁב tarried H3389 בירושׁלם׃ still at Jerusalem.

2 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass H6256 לעת in an eveningtide, H6153 הערב in an eveningtide, H6965 ויקם arose H1732 דוד that David H5921 מעל from off H4904 משׁכבו his bed, H1980 ויתהלך and walked H5921 על upon H1406 גג the roof H1004 בית house: H4428 המלך of the king's H7200 וירא he saw H802 אשׁה a woman H7364 רחצת washing H5921 מעל and from H1406 הגג the roof H802 והאשׁה herself; and the woman H2896 טובת beautiful H4758 מראה to look H3966 מאד׃ very

3 H7971 וישׁלח sent H1732 דוד And David H1875 וידרשׁ and inquired H802 לאשׁה after the woman. H559 ויאמר And said, H3808 הלוא not H2063 זאת this H1339 בת\'ceשׁבע Bath-sheba, H1323 בת the daughter H463 אליעם of Eliam, H802 אשׁת the wife H223 אוריה of Uriah H2850 החתי׃ the Hittite?

4 H7971 וישׁלח sent H1732 דוד And David H4397 מלאכים messengers, H3947 ויקחה and took H935 ותבוא her; and she came H413 אליו in unto H7901 וישׁכב him, and he lay H5973 עמה with her; H1931 והיא for she H6942 מתקדשׁת was purified H2932 מטמאתה from her uncleanness: H7725 ותשׁב and she returned H413 אל unto H1004 ביתה׃ her house.

5 H2029 ותהר conceived, H802 האשׁה And the woman H7971 ותשׁלח and sent H5046 ותגד and told H1732 לדוד David, H559 ותאמר and said, H2030 הרה with child. H595 אנכי׃ I

6 H7971 וישׁלח sent H1732 דוד And David H413 אל to H3097 יואב Joab, H7971 שׁלח sent H413 אלי to H853 את H223 אוריה me Uriah H2850 החתי the Hittite. H7971 וישׁלח H3097 יואב And Joab H853 את H223 אוריה Uriah H413 אל H1732 דוד׃ David.

7 H935 ויבא was come H223 אוריה And when Uriah H413 אליו unto H7592 וישׁאל demanded H1732 דוד him, David H7965 לשׁלום did, H3097 יואב how Joab H7965 ולשׁלום did, H5971 העם and how the people H7965 ולשׁלום prospered. H4421 המלחמה׃ and how the war

8 H559 ויאמר said H1732 דוד And David H223 לאוריה to Uriah, H3381 רד Go down H1004 לביתך to thy house, H7364 ורחץ and wash H7272 רגליך thy feet. H3318 ויצא departed H223 אוריה And Uriah H1004 מבית H4428 המלך from the king. H3318 ותצא and there followed H310 אחריו and there followed H4864 משׂאת him a mess H4428 המלך׃

9 H7901 וישׁכב slept H223 אוריה But Uriah H6607 פתח at the door H1004 בית house H4428 המלך of the king's H854 את with H3605 כל all H5650 עבדי the servants H113 אדניו of his lord, H3808 ולא not H3381 ירד and went H413 אל down to H1004 ביתו׃ his house.

10 H5046 ויגדו And when they had told H1732 לדוד David, H559 לאמר saying, H3808 לא went not down H3381 ירד went not down H223 אוריה Uriah H413 אל unto H1004 ביתו his house, H559 ויאמר said H1732 דוד David H413 אל unto H223 אוריה Uriah, H3808 הלוא not H1870 מדרך from journey? H859 אתה thou H935 בא Camest H4069 מדוע why H3808 לא didst thou not H3381 ירדת go down H413 אל unto H1004 ביתך׃ thine house?

11 H559 ויאמר said H223 אוריה And Uriah H413 אל unto H1732 דוד David, H727 הארון The ark, H3478 וישׂראל and Israel, H3063 ויהודה and Judah, H3427 ישׁבים abide H5521 בסכות in tents; H113 ואדני and my lord H3097 יואב Joab, H5650 ועבדי and the servants H113 אדני of my lord, H5921 על in H6440 פני the open H7704 השׂדה fields; H2583 חנים are encamped H589 ואני shall I H935 אבוא then go H413 אל into H1004 ביתי mine house, H398 לאכל to eat H8354 ולשׁתות and to drink, H7901 ולשׁכב and to lie H5973 עם with H802 אשׁתי my wife? H2416 חיך thou livest, H2416 וחי liveth, H5315 נפשׁך and thy soul H518 אם H6213 אעשׂה I will not do H853 את H1697 הדבר thing. H2088 הזה׃ this

12 H559 ויאמר said H1732 דוד And David H413 אל to H223 אוריה Uriah, H3427 שׁב Tarry H2088 בזה here H1571 גם also, H3117 היום today H4279 ומחר and tomorrow H7971 אשׁלחך I will let thee depart. H3427 וישׁב abode H223 אוריה So Uriah H3389 בירושׁלם in Jerusalem H3117 ביום day, H1931 ההוא that H4283 וממחרת׃ and the morrow.

13 H7121 ויקרא had called H1732 לו דוד And when David H398 ויאכל him, he did eat H6440 לפניו before H8354 וישׁת and drink H7937 וישׁכרהו him; and he made him drunk: H3318 ויצא he went out H6153 בערב and at even H7901 לשׁכב to lie H4904 במשׁכבו on his bed H5973 עם with H5650 עבדי the servants H113 אדניו of his lord, H413 ואל down to H1004 ביתו his house. H3808 לא not H3381 ירד׃ but went

14 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass H1242 בבקר in the morning, H3789 ויכתב wrote H1732 דוד that David H5612 ספר a letter H413 אל to H3097 יואב Joab, H7971 וישׁלח and sent H3027 ביד by the hand H223 אוריה׃ of Uriah.

15 H3789 ויכתב And he wrote H5612 בספר in the letter, H559 לאמר saying, H3051 הבו Set H853 את H223 אוריה ye Uriah H413 אל in H4136 מול the forefront H6440 פני the forefront H4421 המלחמה battle, H2389 החזקה of the hottest H7725 ושׁבתם and retire H310 מאחריו ye from H5221 ונכה him, that he may be smitten, H4191 ומת׃ and die.

16 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass, H8104 בשׁמור observed H3097 יואב when Joab H413 אל observed H5892 העיר the city, H5414 ויתן that he assigned H853 את H223 אוריה Uriah H413 אל unto H4725 המקום a place H834 אשׁר where H3045 ידע he knew H3588 כי that H376 אנשׁי men H2428 חיל valiant H8033 שׁם׃ where

17 H3318 ויצאו went out, H582 אנשׁי H5892 העיר of the city H3898 וילחמו and fought H854 את with H3097 יואב Joab: H5307 ויפל and there fell H4480 מן of H5971 העם the people H5650 מעבדי of the servants H1732 דוד of David; H4191 וימת died H1571 גם also. H223 אוריה and Uriah H2850 החתי׃ the Hittite

18 H7971 וישׁלח sent H3097 יואב Then Joab H5046 ויגד and told H1732 לדוד David H853 את H3605 כל all H1697 דברי the things H4421 המלחמה׃ concerning the war;

19 H6680 ויצו And charged H853 את H4397 המלאך the messenger, H559 לאמר saying, H3615 ככלותך When thou hast made an end H853 את H3605 כל H1697 דברי the matters H4421 המלחמה of the war H1696 לדבר of telling H413 אל unto H4428 המלך׃ the king,

20 H1961 והיה so be H518 אם And if H5927 תעלה arise, H2534 חמת wrath H4428 המלך that the king's H559 ואמר and he say H4069 לך מדוע unto thee, Wherefore H5066 נגשׁתם approached H413 אל ye so nigh unto H5892 העיר the city H3898 להלחם when ye did fight? H3808 הלוא ye not H3045 ידעתם knew H853 את H834 אשׁר that H3384 ירו they would shoot H5921 מעל from H2346 החומה׃ the wall?

21 H4310 מי Who H5221 הכה smote H853 את H40 אבימלך Abimelech H1121 בן the son H3380 ירבשׁת of Jerubbesheth? H3808 הלוא did not H802 אשׁה a woman H7993 השׁליכה cast H5921 עליו upon H6400 פלח a piece H7393 רכב of a millstone H5921 מעל him from H2346 החומה the wall, H4191 וימת that he died H8405 בתבץ in Thebez? H4100 למה why H5066 נגשׁתם went ye nigh H413 אל went ye nigh H2346 החומה the wall? H559 ואמרת then say H1571 גם also. H5650 עבדך thou, Thy servant H223 אוריה Uriah H2850 החתי the Hittite H4191 מת׃ is dead

22 H1980 וילך went, H4397 המלאך So the messenger H935 ויבא and came H5046 ויגד and showed H1732 לדוד David H853 את H3605 כל all H834 אשׁר that H7971 שׁלחו had sent H3097 יואב׃ Joab

23 H559 ויאמר said H4397 המלאך And the messenger H413 אל unto H1732 דוד David, H3588 כי Surely H1396 גברו prevailed H5921 עלינו against H376 האנשׁים the men H3318 ויצאו us, and came out H413 אלינו unto H7704 השׂדה us into the field, H1961 ונהיה and we were H5921 עליהם upon H5704 עד them even unto H6607 פתח the entering H8179 השׁער׃ of the gate.

24 H3372 ויראו H3372 המוראים H413 אל upon H5650 עבדך thy servants; H5921 מעל from off H2346 החומה the wall H4191 וימותו be dead, H5650 מעבדי and thy servant H4428 המלך H1571 וגם also. H5650 עבדך H223 אוריה Uriah H2850 החתי the Hittite H4191 מת׃ is dead

25 H559 ויאמר said H1732 דוד Then David H413 אל unto H4397 המלאך the messenger, H3541 כה Thus H559 תאמר shalt thou say H413 אל unto H3097 יואב Joab, H408 אל Let not H7489 ירע H5869 בעיניך displease H853 את H1697 הדבר thing H2088 הזה this H3588 כי thee, for H2090 כזה as well as another: H2088 וכזה one H398 תאכל devoureth H2719 החרב the sword H2388 החזק more strong H4421 מלחמתך make thy battle H413 אל against H5892 העיר the city, H2040 והרסה and overthrow H2388 וחזקהו׃ it: and encourage

26 H8085 ותשׁמע heard H802 אשׁת And when the wife H223 אוריה of Uriah H3588 כי that H4191 מת was dead, H223 אוריה Uriah H376 אישׁה her husband H5594 ותספד she mourned H5921 על for H1167 בעלה׃ her husband.

27 H5674 ויעבר was past, H60 האבל And when the mourning H7971 וישׁלח sent H1732 דוד David H622 ויאספה and fetched H413 אל her to H1004 ביתו his house, H1961 ותהי and she became H802 לו לאשׁה his wife, H3205 ותלד and bore H1121 לו בן him a son. H7489 וירע H1697 הדבר But the thing H834 אשׁר that H6213 עשׂה had done H1732 דוד David H5869 בעיני displeased H3068 יהוה׃ the LORD.
