1 Kings 13 והנה And, behold, אישׁ a man אלהים of God בא there came מיהודה בדבר by the word יהוה of the LORD אל unto בית אל Bethel: וירבעם and Jeroboam עמד stood על by המזבח the altar להקטיר׃ to burn incense.

2 H7121 ויקרא And he cried H5921 על against H4196 המזבח the altar H1697 בדבר in the word H3068 יהוה of the LORD, H559 ויאמר and said, H4196 מזבח O altar, H4196 מזבח altar, H3541 כה thus H559 אמר saith H3068 יהוה the LORD; H2009 הנה Behold, H1121 בן a child H3205 נולד shall be born H1004 לבית unto the house H1732 דוד of David, H2977 יאשׁיהו Josiah H8034 שׁמו by name; H2076 וזבח thee shall he offer H5921 עליך and upon H853 את H3548 כהני the priests H1116 הבמות of the high places H6999 המקטרים that burn incense H5921 עליך upon H6106 ועצמות bones H120 אדם thee, and men's H8313 ישׂרפו shall be burnt H5921 עליך׃ upon

3 H5414 ונתן And he gave H3117 ביום day, H1931 ההוא the same H4159 מופת a sign H559 לאמר saying, H2088 זה This H4159 המופת the sign H834 אשׁר which H1696 דבר hath spoken; H3068 יהוה the LORD H2009 הנה Behold, H4196 המזבח the altar H7167 נקרע shall be rent, H8210 ונשׁפך it shall be poured out. H1880 הדשׁן and the ashes H834 אשׁר that H5921 עליו׃ upon

4 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass, H8085 כשׁמע heard H4428 המלך when king H853 את H1697 דבר the saying H376 אישׁ of the man H430 האלהים of God, H834 אשׁר which H7121 קרא had cried H5921 על against H4196 המזבח the altar H1008 בבית אל in Bethel, H7971 וישׁלח that he put forth H3379 ירבעם Jeroboam H853 את H3027 ידו his hand H5921 מעל from H4196 המזבח the altar, H559 לאמר saying, H8610 תפשׂהו Lay hold H3001 ותיבשׁ him, dried up, H3027 ידו on him. And his hand, H834 אשׁר which H7971 שׁלח he put forth H5921 עליו against H3808 ולא not H3201 יכל so that he could H7725 להשׁיבה pull it in again H413 אליו׃ to

5 H4196 והמזבח The altar H7167 נקרע also was rent, H8210 וישׁפך poured out H1880 הדשׁן and the ashes H4480 מן from H4196 המזבח the altar, H4159 כמופת according to the sign H834 אשׁר which H5414 נתן had given H376 אישׁ the man H430 האלהים of God H1697 בדבר by the word H3068 יהוה׃ of the LORD.

6 H6030 ויען answered H4428 המלך And the king H559 ויאמר and said H413 אל unto H376 אישׁ the man H430 האלהים of God, H2470 חל Entreat H4994 נא now H853 את H6440 פני the face H3068 יהוה of the LORD H430 אלהיך thy God, H6419 והתפלל and pray H1157 בעדי for H7725 ותשׁב may be restored me again. H3027 ידי me, that my hand H413 אלי may be restored me again. H2470 ויחל besought H376 אישׁ And the man H430 האלהים of God H853 את H6440 פני H3068 יהוה H7725 ותשׁב was restored him again, H3027 יד hand H4428 המלך and the king's H413 אליו was restored him again, H1961 ותהי and became H7223 כבראשׁנה׃ as before.

7 H1696 וידבר said H4428 המלך And the king H413 אל unto H376 אישׁ the man H430 האלהים of God, H935 באה Come H854 אתי with H1004 הביתה home H5582 וסעדה me, and refresh H5414 ואתנה thyself, and I will give H4991 לך מתת׃ thee a reward.

8 H559 ויאמר said H376 אישׁ And the man H430 האלהים of God H413 אל unto H4428 המלך the king, H518 אם If H5414 תתן thou wilt give H853 לי את H2677 חצי me half H1004 ביתך thine house, H3808 לא I will not H935 אבא go in H5973 עמך with H3808 ולא thee, neither H398 אכל will I eat H3899 לחם bread H3808 ולא nor H8354 אשׁתה drink H4325 מים water H4725 במקום place: H2088 הזה׃ in this

9 H3588 כי For H3651 כן so H6680 צוה was it charged H853 אתי H1697 בדבר me by the word H3069 יהוה H559 לאמר saying, H3808 לא no H398 תאכל Eat H3899 לחם bread, H3808 ולא nor H8354 תשׁתה drink H4325 מים water, H3808 ולא nor H7725 תשׁוב turn again H1870 בדרך by the same way H834 אשׁר that H1980 הלכת׃ thou camest.

10 H1980 וילך So he went H1870 בדרך way, H312 אחר another H3808 ולא not H7725 שׁב and returned H1870 בדרך by the way H834 אשׁר that H935 בא he came H413 בה אל to H1008 בית אל׃ Bethel.

11 H5030 ונביא prophet H259 אחד an old H2205 זקן an old H3427 ישׁב Now there dwelt H1008 בבית אל in Bethel; H935 ויבוא came H1121 בנו and his sons H5608 ויספר and told H853 לו את H3605 כל him all H4639 המעשׂה the works H834 אשׁר that H6213 עשׂה had done H376 אישׁ the man H430 האלהים of God H3117 היום that day H1008 בבית אל in Bethel: H853 את H1697 הדברים the words H834 אשׁר which H1696 דבר he had spoken H413 אל unto H4428 המלך the king, H5608 ויספרום them they told H1 לאביהם׃ also to their father.

12 H1696 וידבר said H413 אלהם unto H1 אביהם And their father H335 אי H2088 זה H1870 הדרך way H1980 הלך went H7200 ויראו had seen H1121 בניו he? For his sons H853 את H1870 הדרך way H834 אשׁר what H1980 הלך went, H376 אישׁ the man H430 האלהים of God H834 אשׁר which H935 בא came H3063 מיהודה׃

13 H559 ויאמר And he said H413 אל unto H1121 בניו his sons, H2280 חבשׁו Saddle H2543 לי החמור me the ass. H2280 ויחבשׁו So they saddled H2543 לו החמור him the ass: H7392 וירכב and he rode H5921 עליו׃ thereon,

14 H1980 וילך And went H310 אחרי after H376 אישׁ the man H430 האלהים of God, H4672 וימצאהו and found H3427 ישׁב him sitting H8478 תחת under H424 האלה an oak: H559 ויאמר and he said H413 אליו unto H859 האתה him, thou H376 אישׁ the man H430 האלהים of God H834 אשׁר that H935 באת camest H3063 מיהודה Judah? H559 ויאמר And he said, H589 אני׃ I

15 H559 ויאמר Then he said H413 אליו unto H1980 לך him, Come H854 אתי with H1004 הביתה home H398 ואכל me, and eat H3899 לחם׃ bread.

16 H559 ויאמר And he said, H3808 לא not H3201 אוכל I may H7725 לשׁוב return H854 אתך with H935 ולבוא thee, nor go in H854 אתך with H3808 ולא thee: neither H398 אכל will I eat H3899 לחם bread H3808 ולא nor H8354 אשׁתה drink H854 אתך with H4325 מים water H4725 במקום place: H2088 הזה׃ thee in this

17 H3588 כי For H1697 דבר it was said H413 אלי to H1697 בדבר me by the word H3069 יהוה H3808 לא no H398 תאכל Thou shalt eat H3899 לחם bread H3808 ולא nor H8354 תשׁתה drink H8033 שׁם there, H4325 מים water H3808 לא nor H7725 תשׁוב turn again H1980 ללכת to go H1870 בדרך by the way H834 אשׁר that H1980 הלכת׃ thou camest.

18 H559 ויאמר He said H1571 לו גם also H589 אני unto him, I H5030 נביא a prophet H3644 כמוך H4397 ומלאך as thou and an angel H1696 דבר spoke H413 אלי unto H1697 בדבר me by the word H3068 יהוה of the LORD, H559 לאמר saying, H7725 השׁבהו Bring him back H854 אתך with H413 אל thee into H1004 ביתך thine house, H398 ויאכל that he may eat H3899 לחם bread H8354 וישׁת and drink H4325 מים water. H3584 כחשׁ׃ he lied

19 H7725 וישׁב So he went back H854 אתו with H398 ויאכל him, and did eat H3899 לחם bread H1004 בביתו in his house, H8354 וישׁת and drank H4325 מים׃ water.

20 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass, H1992 הם as they H3427 ישׁבים sat H413 אל at H7979 השׁלחן the table, H1961 ויהי came H1697 דבר that the word H3068 יהוה of the LORD H413 אל unto H5030 הנביא the prophet H834 אשׁר that H7725 השׁיבו׃ brought him back:

21 H7121 ויקרא And he cried H413 אל unto H376 אישׁ the man H430 האלהים of God H834 אשׁר that H935 בא came H3063 מיהודה Judah, H559 לאמר saying, H3541 כה Thus H559 אמר saith H3068 יהוה the LORD, H3282 יען H3588 כי H4784 מרית as thou hast disobeyed H6310 פי the mouth H3068 יהוה of the LORD, H3808 ולא and hast not H8104 שׁמרת kept H853 את H4687 המצוה the commandment H834 אשׁר which H6680 צוך commanded H3068 יהוה the LORD H430 אלהיך׃ thy God

22 H7725 ותשׁב But camest back, H398 ותאכל and hast eaten H3899 לחם bread H8354 ותשׁת and drunk H4325 מים water H4725 במקום in the place, H834 אשׁר of the which H1696 דבר did say H413 אליך to H408 אל no H398 תאכל thee, Eat H3899 לחם bread, H408 ואל no H8354 תשׁת and drink H4325 מים water; H3808 לא shall not H935 תבוא come H5038 נבלתך thy carcass H413 אל unto H6913 קבר the sepulcher H1 אבתיך׃ of thy fathers.

23 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass, H310 אחרי after H398 אכלו he had eaten H3899 לחם bread, H310 ואחרי and after H8354 שׁתותו he had drunk, H2280 ויחבשׁ that he saddled H2543 לו החמור for him the ass, H5030 לנביא for the prophet H834 אשׁר whom H7725 השׁיבו׃ he had brought back.

24 H1980 וילך And when he was gone, H4672 וימצאהו met H738 אריה a lion H1870 בדרך him by the way, H4191 וימיתהו and slew H1961 ותהי was H5038 נבלתו him: and his carcass H7993 משׁלכת cast H1870 בדרך in the way, H2543 והחמור and the ass H5975 עמד stood H681 אצלה by H738 והאריה it, the lion H5975 עמד also stood H681 אצל by H5038 הנבלה׃ the carcass.

25 H2009 והנה And, behold, H376 אנשׁים men H5674 עברים passed by, H7200 ויראו and saw H853 את H5038 הנבלה the carcass H7993 משׁלכת cast H1870 בדרך in the way, H853 ואת H738 האריה and the lion H5975 עמד standing H681 אצל by H5038 הנבלה the carcass: H935 ויבאו and they came H1696 וידברו and told H5892 בעיר in the city H834 אשׁר where H5030 הנביא prophet H2205 הזקן the old H3427 ישׁב׃ dwelt.

26 H8085 וישׁמע heard H5030 הנביא And when the prophet H834 אשׁר that H7725 השׁיבו brought him back H4480 מן from H1870 הדרך the way H559 ויאמר he said, H376 אישׁ the man H430 האלהים of God, H1931 הוא It H834 אשׁר who H4784 מרה was disobedient H853 את H6310 פי unto the word H3068 יהוה of the LORD: H5414 ויתנהו hath delivered H3068 יהוה therefore the LORD H738 לאריה him unto the lion, H7665 וישׁברהו which hath torn H4191 וימתהו him, and slain H1697 כדבר him, according to the word H3068 יהוה of the LORD, H834 אשׁר which H1696 דבר׃ he spoke

27 H1696 וידבר And he spoke H413 אל to H1121 בניו his sons, H559 לאמר saying, H2280 חבשׁו Saddle H853 לי את H2543 החמור me the ass. H2280 ויחבשׁו׃ And they saddled

28 H1980 וילך And he went H4672 וימצא and found H853 את H5038 נבלתו his carcass H7993 משׁלכת cast H1870 בדרך in the way, H2543 וחמור and the ass H738 והאריה and the lion H5975 עמדים standing H681 אצל by H5038 הנבלה the carcass: H3808 לא had not H398 אכל eaten H738 האריה the lion H853 את H5038 הנבלה the carcass, H3808 ולא nor H7665 שׁבר torn H853 את H2543 החמור׃ the ass.

29 H5375 וישׂא took up H5030 הנביא And the prophet H853 את H5038 נבלת the carcass H376 אישׁ of the man H430 האלהים of God, H3240 וינחהו H413 אל it upon H2543 החמור the ass, H7725 וישׁיבהו and brought it back: H935 ויבא came H413 אל to H5892 עיר the city, H5030 הנביא prophet H2205 הזקן and the old H5594 לספד to mourn H6912 ולקברו׃ and to bury

30 H3240 וינח H853 את H5038 נבלתו his carcass H6913 בקברו in his own grave; H5594 ויספדו and they mourned H5921 עליו over H1945 הוי him, Alas, H251 אחי׃ my brother!

31 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass, H310 אחרי after H6912 קברו he had buried H853 אתו H559 ויאמר him, that he spoke H413 אל to H1121 בניו his sons, H559 לאמר saying, H4191 במותי When I am dead, H6912 וקברתם then bury H853 אתי H6913 בקבר me in the sepulcher H834 אשׁר wherein H376 אישׁ the man H430 האלהים of God H6912 קבור buried; H681 בו אצל beside H6106 עצמתיו my bones H3240 הניחו H853 את H6106 עצמתי׃ his bones:

32 H3588 כי For H1961 היה shall surely come to pass. H1961 יהיה shall surely come to pass. H1697 הדבר the saying H834 אשׁר which H7121 קרא he cried H1697 בדבר by the word H3068 יהוה of the LORD H5921 על against H4196 המזבח the altar H834 אשׁר which H1008 בבית אל in Bethel, H5921 ועל and against H3605 כל all H1004 בתי the houses H1116 הבמות of the high places H834 אשׁר H5892 בערי in the cities H8111 שׁמרון׃ of Samaria,

33 H310 אחר After H1697 הדבר thing H2088 הזה this H3808 לא not H7725 שׁב returned H3379 ירבעם Jeroboam H1870 מדרכו H7451 הרעה H7725 וישׁב again H6213 ויעשׂ but made H7098 מקצות of the lowest H5971 העם of the people H3548 כהני priests H1116 במות of the high places: H2655 החפץ whosoever would, H4390 ימלא H853 את H3027 ידו H1961 ויהי him, and he became H3548 כהני of the priests H1116 במות׃ of the high places.

34 H1961 ויהי became H1697 בדבר thing H2088 הזה And this H2403 לחטאת sin H1004 בית unto the house H3379 ירבעם of Jeroboam, H3582 ולהכחיד even to cut off, H8045 ולהשׁמיד and to destroy H5921 מעל from off H6440 פני the face H127 האדמה׃ of the earth.
