Judges 7

ECB(i) 1
GIDON DEFEATS THE MIDYANIY
Then Yerub Baal, who is Gidon, and all the people with him start early and encamp beside En Harod: with the camp of the Midyaniy being north of them by the hill of Moreh in the valley. 2 And Yah Veh says to Gidon, The people with you are too many for me to give the Midyaniy into their hands - lest Yisra El boast itself against me, saying, My own hand saves me! 3 So now I beseech, call out in the ears of the people saying, Whoever awes and trembles, return and skip about from mount Gilad. - and twenty-two thousand of the people return; and ten thousand survive. 4 And Yah Veh says to Gidon, The people are still many; bring them down to the water and there I refine them for you: and so be it, of whom I say to you, This goes with you, the same goes with you; and of whomever I say to you, This goes not with you, the same goes not. 5 So he brings the people to the water: and Yah Veh says to Gidon, Every one who laps the water with his tongue, as a dog laps, set him by himself; likewise every one who bows on his knees to drink: 6 - and the number who lap their hand to their mouth is three hundred men: and all the rest of the people bow on their knees to drink water. 7 And Yah Veh says to Gidon, By the three hundred men who lap, I save you; and give the Midyaniy into your hand: and all the other people go - each man to his place. 8 So the people take their hunt in their hand and their shophars: and he sends every man of Yisra El to his tent and upholds those three hundred men: and the camp of Midyaniy is below him in the valley. 9 And so be it, that same night, Yah Veh says to him, Rise! Descend to the camp! For I give it into your hand: 10 and if you awe to descend, descend with Purah your lad to the camp: 11 and hear what they word; and afterward strengthen your hands to descend to the camp. And he descends with Purah his lad to the edge of the armed men in the camp: 12 and the Midyaniy and the Amaleqiy and all the sons of the east fall in the valley - as locusts for abundance; and their camels without number - as the sand by the sea lip for abundance. 13 And Gidon comes, and behold, a man scribing a dream to his friend; and says, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and behold, a cake of barley bread overturns in the camp of Midyaniy and comes to a tent and smites it so that it falls - overturns it upward, so that the tent falls. 14 And his friend answers and says, This is none other except the sword of Gidon the son of Yah Ash - a man of Yisra El: Elohim gives Midyaniy and all the camp into his hand. 15 And so be it, Gidon hears the renumerating of the dream and the breaking forth thereof, and he prostrates and returns to the camp of Yisra El, and says, Rise! For Yah Veh gives the camp of Midyaniy into your hand: 16 and he divides the three hundred men into three heads; and he gives in the hand of every man shophars and empty pitchers and flambeaus within the pitchers. 17 And he says to them, See me; and work likewise: and behold, when I come to the edge of the camp, so be it, as I work, you work: 18 when I blast with a shophar, I - and all with me, then you blast the shophars all around all the camp and say, Of Yah Veh! and, Of Gidon! 19 So Gidon and the hundred men with him, come to the edge of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and in raising, they raise the guard: and they blast the shophars and shatter the pitchers in their hands: 20 and the three heads blast the shophars and break the pitchers and hold the flambeaus in their left hands and the shophars in their right hands to blast: and they call out, A sword! Of Yah Veh! and, Of Gidon! 21 And every man stands in his place all around the camp; and all the camp runs and shouts and flees: 22 and the three hundred blast the shophars and Yah Veh sets the sword of every man against his friend throughout all the camp: and the camp flees to Beth Has Shittah in Seredah to the lip of Abel Mecholah - to Tabbath. 23 And the men of Yisra El - of Naphtali and of Asher and of all Menash Sheh cry out and pursue after the Midyaniy. 24 And Gidon sends angels throughout all mount Ephrayim, saying, Descend to meet the Midyaniy and capture the waters to Beth Barah and Yarden in front of them. Then all the men of Ephrayim cry out and capture the waters to Beth Barah and Yarden: 25 and they capture two governors of the Midyaniy - Oreb and Zeeb; and they slaughter Oreb on rock Oreb and they slaughter Zeeb at the trough of Zeeb; and pursue Midyaniy and bring the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gidon beyond Yarden.
