THE FLOATING IRON
And the sons of the prophets say to Eli Shua, Behold now, the place we settle at your face is tribulated for us: 2 Let us go, we beseech, to Yarden; and every man take one beam and work us a place to settle. And he says, Go! 3 And one says, If you will, I beseech, go with your servants. And he says, I go. 4 And he goes with them: and they come to Yarden and cut down trees: 5 and so be it, as one fells a beam, the iron falls into the water: and he cries out and says, Aha, adoni! It was loaned. 6 And the man of Elohim says, Where fell it? And he shows the place: and he clips a tree and casts it in there; and the iron floats. 7 And he says, Take it to yourself. - and he spreads his hand and takes it. 8 And the sovereign of Aram fights Yisra El and counsels with his servants, saying, In such and such a place is my encampment. 9 And the man of Elohim sends to the sovereign of Yisra El, saying, Guard that you not pass this place; for the Aramiy descend there: 10 and the sovereign of Yisra El sends to the place of which the man of Elohim says; and enlightens him; and guards himself there - neither once nor twice. 11 And the heart of the sovereign of Aram storms about because of this word; and he calls his servants and says to them, Tell you me not who of us is for the sovereign of Yisra El? 12 And one of his servants says, None, my adoni, O sovereign: for Eli Shua, the prophet in Yisra El, tells the sovereign of Yisra El the words you word in your bedchamber. 13 And he says, Go and see where he is, so that I send and take him. And they tell him, saying, Behold, in Dothan. 14 And he sends horses and chariots and heavy valiant there: and they come by night and surround the city: 15 and the lad of the man of Elohim starts early and goes forth; and behold, the valiant surround the city both with horses and chariots. And his minister says to him, Aha, my adoni! How work we? 16 And he says, Awe not: for these with us are greater than those with them. 17 And Eli Shua prays and says, Yah Veh, I beseech, open his eyes, so that he sees. And Yah Veh opens the eyes of the lad; and he sees: and behold, the mountain fills with horses and chariots of fire all around Eli Shua. 18 And they descend to him, and Eli Shua prays to Yah Veh and says, Smite this goyim, I beseech, with blindness. - and he smites them with blindness according to the word of Eli Shua. 19 And Eli Shua says to them, This is neither the way nor is this the city: come after me, and I walk you to the man you seek. - and he walks them to Shomeron. 20 And so be it, they come into Shomeron, and Eli Shua says, Yah Veh, open their eyes so that they see. And Yah Veh opens their eyes and they see; and behold, they are midst Shomeron. 21 And he sees them, and the sovereign of Yisra El says to Eli Shua, Smite I? Smite I, my father? 22 And he says, Smite not! Do you smite whom you captured with your sword and with your bow? Set bread and water at their face to eat and drink and go to their adoni. 23 And he digs great provision for them: and they eat and drink; and he sends them away to go to their adoni: and the troops of Aram add not to come into the land of Yisra El. 24
FAMINE IN SHOMERON
And so be it, afterward, Ben Hadad sovereign of Aram gathers all his camp and ascends and besieges Shomeron; 25 and there is a great famine in Shomeron: and behold, they besiege it, until the head of a he burro is eighty silver and the fourth qab of dove dungs is five silver. 26 And as the sovereign of Yisra El passes by on the wall, a woman cries out to him, saying, Save, my adoni, O sovereign. 27 And he says, If Yah Veh saves you not, how save I you? From the threshingfloor? Or from the trough? 28 And the sovereign says to her, What ails you? And she says, This woman said to me, Give your son to eat today and eat my son tomorrow: 29 so we stewed my son and ate him: and I said to her on the next day, Give your son, to eat him: and she hid her son. 30 And so be it, the sovereign hears the words of the woman, and he rips his clothes; and he passes by on the wall and the people see; and behold, he houses saq on his flesh. 31 And he says, Elohim work thus and add also to me, if the head of Eli Shua the son of Shaphat stands on him this day. 32 And Eli Shua settles in his house and the elders settle with him; and he sends a man from his face: but ere the angel comes to him, he says to the elders, You see how this son of a murderer sends to turn aside my head? See when the angel comes, and shut the door and press him at the door. Is not the voice of feet of his adoni after him? 33 And while he yet words with them, behold, the angel descends to him: and he says, Behold, this evil is of Yah Veh! Why await I Yah Veh any longer?
