Isaiah 7

CLV(i) 1 And coming is it in the days of Ahaz, the son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, up goes Rezin, king of Syria, and Pekah, son of Remaliah, king of Israel, to Jerusalem to fight against it. Yet they cannot fight against it." 2 And it is being told the house of David, saying, "Guided is Syria over Ephraim. And swaying is his heart, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wildwood sway from facing the wind." 3 And Yahweh is saying to Isaiah, "Fare forth, pray, to meet Ahaz, you and Shear-Jashub, your son, to the end of the trench of the uppermost reservoir, to the highway of the field of the launderer." 4 And say to him, `Beware! And be quiet! You must not fear, and your heart must not be tender, because of these two tails of the smoking wooden pokers, that are by the hot anger of Rezin and Syria, and Remaliah's son." 5 Forasmuch as Syria counsels evil against you, with Ephraim and Remaliah's son, saying, 6 We will go up into Judah and end it, and we will rend it to us, and we will cause a king to reign in its midst--the son of Tabeal;"'" 7 Thus says my Lord, Yahweh of hosts, "This counsel shall not be confirmed, and it shall not come to pass." 8 For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin, and in sixty five years further Ephraim shall be cracked from being a people." 9 And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If you are not believing, then you are not being faithful." 10 And Yahweh is proceeding to speak to Ahaz, saying:" 11 Ask for yourself a sign from Yahweh, your Elohim; deepen the asking, or elevate it toward that above." 12 And saying is Ahaz, "I will not ask, nor will I probe Yahweh." 13 And saying is he. "Hear, pray, house of David! A little thing is it for you to tire mortals, that you are tiring even Yahweh, my Elohim? 14 Wherefore, Yahweh Himself will give a sign to you:Behold! the damsel shall be pregnant and bear a son, and you call his name Emmanu-El." 15 Clotted cream and honey shall he eat before he knows to reject evil and to choose good. 16 For ere the lad will know to reject evil and choose good, forsaken shall be the ground which you are irritating, of the presence of its two kings." 17 And Yahweh will bring on you, and on your people, and on the house of your father, days which have not come since the day Ephraim withdrew from Judah--the king of Assyria!" 18 And it comes in that day, Yahweh shall hiss for the gadfly which is at the end of the waterways of Egypt, and for the bee which is in the land of Assyria." 19 And they come and stop, all of them, in the offshoot watercourses, and in rifts in the crags, and in the caves, and in all the clefts, and in all the thorn trees, and at all the streams are their lodges." 20 In that day Yahweh will shave with a hired razor, with those across the stream, with the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet, and even the beard will it sweep off." 21 And it comes in that day, that a man shall keep alive a heifer of the herd, and two ewes of the flock;" 22 and it comes, from the vast yield of milk, he shall eat clotted cream, for clotted cream and honey shall everyone eat, who is left within the land." 23 And it comes in that day, coming to be is every place, where is coming a thousand vines, a thousand silverlings in value, for buckthorns and for spines shall it become." 24 With arrows and with a bow shall come there, for all the land shall become buckthorns and spines." 25 And all the mountains which with the hoe are being hoed, you will not come there for fear of buckthorns and spines, and it shall become a place for sending the bull, and for the tramping of the flockling."
