Isaiah 1

CLV(i) 1 The vision which was perceived by Isaiah, son of Amoz, which he perceives concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah, and Jotham, and Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah." 2 Hark, you heavens! And give ear, O earth! For Yahweh speaks! Sons I bring up and exalt, yet they, they transgress against Me." 3 The bull knows his owner, and the ass the crib of his possessors, yet Israel does not know Me, and My people do not consider Me." 4 Woe, nation of sin! People heavy with depravity! Seed of evil doers! Sons of ruiners! They forsake Yahweh. They spurn the Holy One of Israel. They are estranged, going back." 5 For what are you being smitten still? You are continuing in stubbornness. All of the head is ill, and all of the heart languishes." 6 From the sole of the foot unto the head no flawlessness is in it. Injury and welt, and smiting raw; they are not pressed out, nor bound up, nor made tender with oil." 7 Your land is a desolation, and your cities are burned with fire. Your ground--in front of you aliens are devouring it, and desolation is on it as an overturning by alien peoples." 8 And left is the daughter of Zion as a booth in a vineyard, as a lodge in a cucumber patch, as a city besieged." 9 Unless Yahweh of hosts reserves for us a few survivors, as Sodom would we become, and to Gomorrah would we be likened." 10 Hear the word of Yahweh, captains of Sodom! Give ear to the law of Elohim, you people of Gomorrah!" 11 Why, to Me, your many sacrifices?saying is Yahweh. "I am surfeited with ascent approaches of rams, and the fat of fatlings, and in the blood of young bulls and he-lambs and he-goats I do not delight." 12 In case you are coming to appear before Me--Who seeks this from your hand, to tramp My courts? 13 Do not continue to bring a futile approach present. Incense--it is an abhorrence to Me! The new moon and the sabbath, the calling of a meeting--! I cannot bear a fast and a day of restraint!" 14 Your new moons and your appointments are hated by My soul. They become an encumbrance to Me. I am tired of bearing them. 15 And when you spread your palms to Me, I will obscure My eyes from you. Moreover, in case you are increasing your prayers, there is no hearing by Me. Your hands are full of blood. Amidst your fingers extrudes lawlessness." 16 Wash yourselves! Purge yourselves! Take away the evil of your actions from in front of My eyes! 17 Leave off the evil! Learn to be good! Inquire for judgment! Make happy the wronged! Judge the orphan! Contend for the widow! 18 Go, pray and it shall be corrected, saying is Yahweh. "If your sins are coming to be as double dipped scarlet, as snow shall they be white. If they are reddened as crimson, as wool shall they become." 19 If you are willing and hearken, the good of the land shall you eat." 20 Yet if you are refusing and rebel, by the sword shall you be devoured. For the mouth of Yahweh speaks." 21 How becomes a prostitute the town that was faithful Zion! Full of judgment, righteousness lodging in her, yet now murderers!" 22 Your silver becomes dross, your grog is adulterated with water." 23 Your chiefs are stubborn, and partners of thieves. Everyone loves a bribe, and pursues payments. The orphan they are not judging. And the contention of the widow is not coming to them." 24 Wherefore avers the Lord Yahweh of hosts, the Sturdy One of Israel, "Woe! I shall be comforted over My foes, and avenged on My enemies." 25 And I will restore My hand on you, and refine, so as to purify you from your dross. And the rebellious will I destroy, and take away all your tin alloy." 26 And I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the start. And afterward shall they call you, `Righteous city,' `Faithful Mother-Town.'" 27 Zion with judgment shall be ransomed, and her restored, with righteousness." 28 And the breaking of transgressors and sinners shall be together, and forsakers of Yahweh shall be finished." 29 For they are ashamed because of the oaks which you covet, and they are abashed because of the gardens which you choose." 30 For you shall become as a terebinth with leaf decay, and as a garden for which there is no water." 31 And your safeguard becomes tinder, and your contrivance a spark. And the lawless and sinners consume, the two of them together, and there is no quencher."
