Isaiah 49 Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye peoples, from far: Jehovah hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name:

1 H8085 Listen, O H339 isles, unto me; and H7181 hearken, ye H3816 peoples, from H7350 far: H3068 Jehovah hath H7121 called me from the H990 womb; from the H4578 bowels of my H517 mother hath he made H2142 mention of my H8034 name: 2 and he hath H7760 made my H6310 mouth like a H2299 sharp H2719 sword; in the H6738 shadow of his H3027 hand hath he H2244 hid me: and he hath H7760 made me a H1305 polished H2671 shaft; in his H827 quiver hath he kept me H5641 close: 3 and he H559 said unto me, Thou art my H5650 servant; H3478 Israel, in whom I will be H6286 glorified. 4 But I H559 said, I have H3021 labored in H7385 vain, I have H3615 spent my H3581 strength for H8414 nought and H1892 vanity; yet H403 surely the H4941 justice due to me is with H3068 Jehovah, and my H6468 recompense with my H430 God. 5 And now H559 saith H3068 Jehovah that H3335 formed me from the H990 womb to be his H5650 servant, to H7725 bring H3290 Jacob H7725 again to him, and that H3478 Israel be H622 gathered unto him (for I am H3513 honorable in the H5869 eyes of H3068 Jehovah, and my H430 God is become my H5797 strength); 6 yea, he H559 saith, It is too light a H7043 thing that thou shouldest be my H5650 servant to raise H6965 up the H7626 tribes of H3290 Jacob, and to H7725 restore the H5341 preserved of H3478 Israel: I will also H5414 give thee for a H216 light to the H1471 Gentiles, that thou mayest be my H3444 salvation unto the H7097 end of the H776 earth. 7 Thus H559 saith H3068 Jehovah, the H1350 Redeemer of H3478 Israel, and his Holy H6918 One, to him whom H5315 man H960 despiseth, to him whom the H1471 nation H8581 abhorreth, to a H5650 servant of H4910 rulers: H4428 Kings shall H7200 see and H6965 arise; H8269 princes, and they shall H7812 worship; because of H3068 Jehovah that is H539 faithful, even the Holy H6918 One of H3478 Israel, who hath H977 chosen thee. 8 Thus H559 saith H3068 Jehovah, In an H7522 acceptable H6256 time have I H6030 answered thee, and in a H3117 day of H3444 salvation have I H5826 helped thee; and I will H5341 preserve thee, and H5414 give thee for a H1285 covenant of the H5971 people, to H6965 raise up the H776 land, to make them H5157 inherit the H8074 desolate H5159 heritages: 9 H559 saying to them that are H631 bound, Go H3318 forth; to them that are in H2822 darkness, H1540 Show yourselves. They shall H7462 feed in the H1870 ways, and on all bare H8205 heights shall be their H4830 pasture. 10 They shall not H7456 hunger nor H6770 thirst; neither shall the H8273 heat nor H8121 sun H5221 smite them: for he that hath H7355 mercy on them will H5090 lead them, even by H4002 springs of H4325 water will he H5095 guide them. 11 And I will H7760 make all my H2022 mountains a H1870 way, and my H4546 highways shall be H7311 exalted. 12 Lo, these shall H935 come from H7350 far; and, lo, these from the H6828 north and from the H3220 west; and these from the H776 land of H5515 Sinim. 13 H7442 Sing, O H8064 heavens; and be H1523 joyful, O H776 earth; and break H6476 forth into H7440 singing, O H2022 mountains: for H3068 Jehovah hath H5162 comforted his H5971 people, and will have H7355 compassion upon his H6041 afflicted. 14 But H6726 Zion H559 said, H3068 Jehovah hath H5800 forsaken me, and the H3068 Lord hath H7911 forgotten me. 15 Can a H802 woman H7911 forget her sucking H5764 child, that she should not have H7355 compassion on the H1121 son of her H990 womb? yea, these may H7911 forget, yet will not I H7911 forget thee. 16 Behold, I have H2710 graven thee upon the palms of my H3709 hands; thy H2346 walls are H8548 continually before me. 17 Thy H1121 children make H4116 haste; thy H2040 destroyers and they that made thee H2717 waste shall go H3318 forth from thee. 18 Lift H5375 up thine H5869 eyes round H5439 about, and H7200 behold: all these gather themselves H6908 together, and H935 come to thee. As I H2416 live, H5002 saith H3068 Jehovah, thou shalt surely H3847 clothe thee with them all as with an H5716 ornament, and H7194 gird thyself with them, like a H3618 bride. 19 For, as for thy H2723 waste and thy desolate H8074 places, and thy H776 land that hath been H2035 destroyed, surely now shalt thou be too H3334 strait for the H3427 inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee H1104 up shall be far H7368 away. 20 The H1121 children of thy H7923 bereavement shall yet H559 say in thine H241 ears, The H4725 place is too H6862 strait for me; H5066 give H4725 place to me that I may H3427 dwell. 21 Then shalt thou H559 say in thy H3824 heart, Who hath H3205 begotten me these, seeing I have been bereaved of my H7921 children, and am H1565 solitary, an H1540 exile, and wandering to and H5493 fro? and who hath brought H1431 up these? Behold, I was H7604 left alone; these, H375 where were they? 22 Thus H559 saith the H136 Lord H3069 Jehovah, Behold, I will lift H5375 up my H3027 hand to the H1471 nations, and set H7311 up my H5251 ensign to the H5971 peoples; and they shall H935 bring thy H1121 sons in their H2684 bosom, and thy H1323 daughters shall be H5375 carried upon their H3802 shoulders. 23 And H4428 kings shall be thy nursing H539 fathers, and their H8282 queens thy nursing H3243 mothers: they shall bow H7812 down to thee with their H639 faces to the H776 earth, and H3897 lick the H6083 dust of thy H7272 feet; and thou shalt H3045 know that I am H3068 Jehovah; and they that H6960 wait for me shall not be put to H954 shame. 24 Shall the H4455 prey be H3947 taken from the H1368 mighty, or the H6662 lawful H7628 captives be H4422 delivered? 25 But thus H559 saith H3068 Jehovah, Even the H7628 captives of the H1368 mighty shall be taken H3947 away, and the H4455 prey of the H6184 terrible shall be H4422 delivered; for I will H7378 contend with him that H3401 contendeth with thee, and I will H3467 save thy H1121 children. 26 And I will H398 feed them that H3238 oppress thee with their own H1320 flesh; and they shall be H7937 drunken with their own H1818 blood, as with sweet H6071 wine: and all H1320 flesh shall H3045 know that I, H3068 Jehovah, am thy H3467 Saviour, and thy H1350 Redeemer, the Mighty H46 One of H3290 Jacob.
