Amos 7 Thus the Lord Jehovah showed me: and, behold, he formed locusts in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.

2 H3615 And it came to pass that, when they made an end H398 of eating H6212 the grass H776 of the land, H559 then I said, H136 O Lord H136 Jehovah, H5545 forgive, H3290 I beseech thee: how shall Jacob H6965 stand? H6996 for he is small.

3 H3068 Jehovah H5162 repented H559 concerning this: It shall not be, saith H3068 Jehovah.

4 H136 Thus the Lord H3069 Jehovah H7200 showed H136 me: and, behold, the Lord H3069 Jehovah H7121 called H7378 to contend H784 by fire; H398 and it devoured H7227 the great H8415 deep, H398 and would have eaten up H2506 the land.

5 H559 Then said H136 I, O Lord H3069 Jehovah, H2308 cease, H3290 I beseech thee: how shall Jacob H6965 stand? H6996 for he is small.

6 H3068 Jehovah H5162 repented H559 concerning this: this also shall not be, saith H136 the Lord H3069 Jehovah.

7 H7200 Thus he showed H136 me: and, behold, the Lord H5324 stood H2346 beside a wall H594 made by a plumb-line, H594 with a plumb-line H3027 in his hand.

8 H3068 And Jehovah H559 said H5986 unto me, Amos, H7200 what seest H559 thou? And I said, H594 A plumb-line. H559 Then said H136 the Lord, H7760 Behold, I will set H594 a plumb-line H7130 in the midst H5971 of my people H3478 Israel; H3254 I will not again H5674 pass by them any more;

9 H1116 and the high places H3446 of Isaac H8074 shall be desolate, H4720 and the sanctuaries H3478 of Israel H2717 shall be laid waste; H6965 and I will rise H1004 against the house H3379 of Jeroboam H2719 with the sword.

10 H558 Then Amaziah H3548 the priest H1008 of Beth-el H7971 sent H3379 to Jeroboam H4428 king H3478 of Israel, H559 saying, H5986 Amos H7194 hath conspired H7130 against thee in the midst H1004 of the house H3478 of Israel: H776 the land H3201 is not able H3557 to bear H1697 all his words.

11 H5986 For thus Amos H559 saith, H3379 Jeroboam H4191 shall die H2719 by the sword, H3478 and Israel H1540 shall surely H1540 be led away captive H127 out of his land.

12 H558 Also Amaziah H559 said H5986 unto Amos, H2374 O thou seer, H3212 go, H1272 flee thou away H776 into the land H3063 of Judah, H398 and there eat H3899 bread, H5012 and prophesy there:

13 H5012 but prophesy H3254 not again H1008 any more at Beth-el; H4428 for it is the king's H4720 sanctuary, H4467 and it is a royal H1004 house.

14 H6030 Then answered H5986 Amos, H559 and said H558 to Amaziah, H5030 I was no prophet, H5030 neither was I a prophet's H1121 son; H951 but I was a herdsman, H1103 and a dresser H8256 of sycomore-trees:

15 H3068 and Jehovah H3947 took H310 me from following H6629 the flock, H3068 and Jehovah H559 said H3212 unto me, Go, H5012 prophesy H5971 unto my people H3478 Israel.

16 H8085 Now therefore hear H1697 thou the word H3068 of Jehovah: H559 Thou sayest, H5012 Prophesy H3478 not against Israel, H5197 and drop H1004 not thy word against the house H3446 of Isaac;

17 H559 therefore thus saith H3068 Jehovah: H802 Thy wife H2181 shall be a harlot H5892 in the city, H1121 and thy sons H1323 and thy daughters H5307 shall fall H2719 by the sword, H127 and thy land H2505 shall be divided H2256 by line; H4191 and thou thyself shalt die H5921 in H127 a land H2931 that is unclean, H3478 and Israel H1540 shall surely H1540 be led away captive H127 out of his land.
