2 Kings 16:1-20

  1 H7651 In the seventeenth H6240 H8141 year H6492 of Pekah H1121 the son H7425 of Remaliah H271 Ahaz H1121 the son H3147 of Jotham H4428 king H3063 of Judah H4427 began to reign.

  2 H6242 Twenty H8141 years H1121 old H271 was Ahaz H4427 when he began to reign, H4427 and reigned H8337 sixteen H6240 H8141 years H3389 in Jerusalem, H6213 and did H3477 not that which was right H5869 in the sight H3068 of the LORD H430 his God, H1732 like David H1 his father.

  3 H3212 But he walked H1870 in the way H4428 of the kings H3478 of Israel, H1571 yes, H1121 and made his son H5674 to pass H784 through the fire, H8441 according to the abominations H1471 of the heathen, H834 whom H3068 the LORD H3423 cast H6440 out from before H1121 the children H3478 of Israel.

  4 H2076 And he sacrificed H6999 and burnt H6999 incense H1116 in the high H5921 places, and on H1389 the hills, H8478 and under H3605 every H7488 green H6086 tree.

  5 H227 Then H7526 Rezin H4428 king H758 of Syria H6492 and Pekah H1121 son H7425 of Remaliah H4428 king H3478 of Israel H5927 came H3389 up to Jerusalem H4421 to war: H6696 and they besieged H271 Ahaz, H3201 but could H3898 not overcome him.

  6 H6256 At that time H7526 Rezin H4428 king H758 of Syria H7725 recovered H359 Elath H758 to Syria, H5394 and drove H3064 the Jews H359 from Elath: H758 and the Syrians H935 came H359 to Elath, H3427 and dwelled H8033 there H2088 to this H3117 day.

  7 H271 So Ahaz H7971 sent H4397 messengers H8407 to Tiglathpileser H4428 king H804 of Assyria, H559 saying, H5650 I am your servant H1121 and your son: H5927 come H3467 up, and save H3709 me out of the hand H4428 of the king H758 of Syria, H3709 and out of the hand H4428 of the king H3478 of Israel, H6965 which rise H5921 up against me.

  8 H271 And Ahaz H3947 took H3701 the silver H2091 and gold H4672 that was found H1004 in the house H3068 of the LORD, H214 and in the treasures H4428 of the king’s H1004 house, H7971 and sent H7810 it for a present H4428 to the king H804 of Assyria.

  9 H4428 And the king H804 of Assyria H8085 listened H4428 to him: for the king H804 of Assyria H5927 went H413 up against H1834 Damascus, H8610 and took H1540 it, and carried H1540 the people of it captive H7024 to Kir, H4191 and slew H7526 Rezin.

  10 H4428 And king H271 Ahaz H3212 went H1834 to Damascus H7125 to meet H8407 Tiglathpileser H4428 king H804 of Assyria, H7200 and saw H4196 an altar H1834 that was at Damascus: H4428 and king H271 Ahaz H7971 sent H223 to Urijah H3548 the priest H1823 the fashion H4196 of the altar, H8403 and the pattern H3605 of it, according to all H4639 the workmanship thereof.

  11 H223 And Urijah H3548 the priest H1129 built H4196 an altar H3605 according to all H4428 that king H271 Ahaz H7971 had sent H1834 from Damascus: H3651 so H223 Urijah H3548 the priest H6213 made H5704 it against H4428 king H271 Ahaz H935 came H1834 from Damascus.

  12 H4428 And when the king H935 was come H1834 from Damascus, H4428 the king H7200 saw H4196 the altar: H4428 and the king H7126 approached H4196 to the altar, H5927 and offered H5921 thereon.

  13 H6999 And he burnt H5930 his burnt H4503 offering H5258 and his meat offering, and poured H5262 his drink H2236 offering, and sprinkled H1818 the blood H8002 of his peace H4196 offerings, on the altar.

  14 H7126 And he brought H5178 also the brazen H4196 altar, H834 which H6440 was before H3068 the LORD, H6440 from the forefront H1004 of the house, H996 from between H4196 the altar H1004 and the house H3068 of the LORD, H5414 and put H5921 it on H6828 the north H3409 side H4196 of the altar.

  15 H4428 And king H271 Ahaz H6680 commanded H223 Urijah H3548 the priest, H559 saying, H1419 On the great H4196 altar H6999 burn H1242 the morning H5930 burnt H6153 offering, and the evening H4503 meat offering, H4428 and the king’s H5930 burnt H4503 sacrifice, and his meat offering, H5930 with the burnt H3605 offering of all H5971 the people H776 of the land, H4503 and their meat offering, H5262 and their drink H2236 offerings; and sprinkle H3605 on it all H1818 the blood H5930 of the burnt H3605 offering, and all H1818 the blood H2077 of the sacrifice: H5178 and the brazen H4196 altar H1239 shall be for me to inquire by.

  16 H6213 Thus did H223 Urijah H3548 the priest, H3605 according to all H4428 that king H271 Ahaz H6680 commanded.

  17 H4428 And king H271 Ahaz H7112 cut H4526 off the borders H4350 of the bases, H5493 and removed H3595 the laver H5921 from off H3381 them; and took H3381 down H3220 the sea H5921 from off H5178 the brazen H1241 oxen H8478 that were under H5414 it, and put H4837 it on the pavement H68 of stones.

  18 H4329 And the covert H7676 for the sabbath H1129 that they had built H1004 in the house, H4428 and the king’s H3996 entry H2435 without, H5437 turned H1004 he from the house H3068 of the LORD H4428 for the king H804 of Assyria.

  19 H3499 Now the rest H1697 of the acts H271 of Ahaz H834 which H6213 he did, H3789 are they not written H5612 in the book H4428 of the chronicles of the kings H3063 of Judah?

  20 H271 And Ahaz H7901 slept H1 with his fathers, H6912 and was buried H1 with his fathers H5892 in the city H1732 of David: H2396 and Hezekiah H1121 his son H4427 reigned H8478 in his stead.
