Acts 5:17-40

  17 G450 And having risen up, G1161   G3588 the G749 chief priest G2532 and G3956 all G3588 the ones G4862 with G1473 him G3588 ( which G1510.6 is G139 the sect G3588 of the G* Sadducees,) G4130 were filled G2205 of zeal.

  18 G2532 And G1911 they put G3588   G5495 their hands G1473   G1909 upon G3588 the G652 apostles, G2532 and G5087 put G1473 them G1722 in G5084 [²keep G1219 ¹a public].

  19 G32 But an angel G1161   G2962 of the Lord G1223 by G3588   G3571 night G455 opened G3588 the G2374 doors G3588 of the G5438 prison, G1806 [²leading ⁴out G5037 ¹and G1473 ³them] G2036 said,

  20 G4198 Go! G2532 and G2476 standing, G2980 speak G1722 in G3588 the G2413 temple G3588 to the G2992 people G3956 all G3588 the G4487 words G3588   G2222 of this life! G3778  

  21 G191 And having heard, G1161   G1525 they entered G5259 at G3588 the G3722 dawn G1519 into G3588 the G2413 temple, G2532 and G1321 were teaching. G3854 But having come, G1161   G3588 the G749 chief priest G2532 and G3588 the ones G4862 with G1473 him, G4779 they called together G3588 the G4892 sanhedrin G2532 and G3956 all G3588 the G1087 council of elders G3588 of the G5207 sons G* of Israel, G2532 and G649 sent G1519 to G3588 the G1201 jail G71 for them to be brought. G1473  

  22 G3588 And the G1161   G5257 officers G3854 having come, G3756 did not G2147 find G1473 them G1722 in G3588 the G5438 prison, G390 and having returned, G1161   G518 they reported,

  23 G3004 saying G3754 that, G3588   G3303 Indeed G1201 the jail G2147 we found G2808 locked G1722 with G3956 all G803 security, G2532 and G3588 the G5441 keepers G2476 standing G4253 before G3588 the G2374 doors; G455 but having opened G1161   G2080 [³inside G3762 ²no one G2147 ¹we found].

  24 G5613 And as G1161   G191 they heard G3588   G3056 these words, G3778   G3588 both the G5037   G2409 priest G2532 and G3588 the G4755 commandant G3588 of the G2413 temple G2532 and G3588 the G749 chief priests G1280 were perplexed G4012 concerning G1473 them, G5100 whatever G302   G1096 this might be. G3778  

  25 G3854 And having come, G1161   G5100 a certain one G518 reported G1473 to them, G3004 saying G3754 that, G2400 Behold, G3588 the G435 men G3739 whom G5087 you put G1722 in G3588 the G5438 prison G1510.2.6 are G1722 in G3588 the G2413 temple G2476 standing G2532 and G1321 teaching G3588 the G2992 people.

  26 G5119 Then G565 [³having gone forth G3588 ¹the G4755 ²commandant] G4862 with G3588 the G5257 officers G71 led G1473 them, G3756 not G3326 with G970 force; G5399 for they feared G1063   G3588 the G2992 people, G2443 that G3361 they should not G3034 be stoned.

  27 G71 And having brought G1161   G1473 them, G2476 they stood them G1722 in G3588 the G4892 sanhedrin; G2532 and G1905 [³asked G1473 ⁴them G3588 ¹the G749 ²chief priest],

  28 G3004 saying, G3756 Was it not G3852 with an exhortation G3853 we exhorted G1473 to you G3361 to not G1321 teach G1909 in G3588   G3686 this name? G3778   G2532 And G2400 behold, G4137 you have filled G3588   G* Jerusalem G3588   G1322 with your teaching, G1473   G2532 and G1014 you want G1863 to bring G1909 upon G1473 us G3588 the G129 blood G3588   G444 of this man. G3778  

  29 G611 And answering G1161   G* Peter G2532 and G3588 the G652 apostles G2036 said, G3980 [²to yield obedience G1163 ¹It is necessary] G2316 to God G3123 rather G2228 than G444 men.

  30 G3588 The G2316 God G3588   G3962 of our fathers G1473   G1453 raised G* Jesus, G3739 whom G1473 you G1315 laid hands upon G2910 having hanged G1909 upon G3586 a tree.

  31 G3778 This one -- G3588   G2316 God, G747 chief G2532 and G4990 deliverer, G5312 exalted G3588 by G1188 his right hand, G1473   G1325 to give G3341 repentance G3588   G* to Israel G2532 and G859 release G266 of sins.

  32 G2532 And G1473 we G1510.2.4 are G1473 his G3144 witnesses G3588   G4487 of these things; G3778   G2532 [²also G3588 ³the G4151 ⁵spirit G1161 ¹but G3588   G39 ⁴holy], G3739 which G1325 God gave G3588   G2316   G3588 to the ones G3980 yielding obedience G1473 to him.

  33 G3588 And the ones G1161   G191 hearing G1282 were sawed through, G2532 and G1011 they consulted G337 to do away with G1473 them.

  34 G450 And having risen up, G1161   G5100 a certain one G1722 in G3588 the G4892 sanhedrin, G* a Pharisee, G3686 by name G* Gamaliel, G3547 a teacher of the law, G5093 esteemed G3956 by all G3588 the G2992 people, G2753 urged G1854 [⁴outside G1024 ⁵a little while G5100   G3588 ¹the G652 ²apostles G4160 ³to be made to go].

  35 G2036 And he said G5037   G4314 to G1473 them, G435 Men, G* Israelites, G4337 take heed G1438 to yourselves G1909 over G3588   G444 these men G3778   G5100 what G3195 you are about G4238 to act!

  36 G4253 For before G1063   G3778 these G3588   G2250 days G450 Theudas rose up, G*   G3004 naming G1510.1 [²to be G5100 ³somebody G1438 ¹himself], G3739 in whom G4345.1 [³leaned towards G706 ¹a number G435 ²of men], G5616 about G5071 four hundred, G3739 who G337 were done away with; G2532 and G3956 all G3745 as many as G3982 were persuaded G1473 by him, G1262 were parted, G2532 and G1096 came G1519 to G3762 nothing.

  37 G3326 After G3778 this G450 [⁴rose up G* ¹Judas G3588 ²the G* ³Galilean] G1722 in G3588 the G2250 days G3588 of the G582 census, G2532 and G868 he separated G2992 [²of people G2425 ¹a fit amount] G3694 to go after G1473 him; G2548 and that one G622 perished; G2532 and G3956 all G3745 as many as G3982 were persuaded G1473 by him, G1287 were dispersed.

  38 G2532 And G3569 at present G3004 I say G1473 to you, G868 abstain G575 from G3588   G444 these men, G3778   G2532 and G1439 allow G1473 them! G3754 for G1437 if G1510.3 [²should be G1537 ³of G444 ⁴men G3588   G1012 ¹this counsel], G1473   G2228 then G3588   G2041 this work G3778   G2647 will be broken up.

  39 G1487 But if G1161   G1537 [²of G2316 ³God G1510.2.3 ¹it is], G3756 you will not be able G1410   G2647 to break it up, G1473   G3379 lest at any time G2532 even G2314 [²as fighters against God G2147 ¹you be found].

  40 G3982 And they were persuaded G1161   G1473 by him. G2532 And G4341 having called G3588 the G652 apostles, G1194 having flayed them, G3853 they exhorted them G3361 to not G2980 speak G1909 in G3588 the G3686 name G3588   G* of Jesus, G2532 and G630 they released G1473 them.
