Deuteronomy 18 There will not be to the priests, to the Levites, the entire tribe of Levi, a portion nor a lot with Israel. The yield offerings of the lord are their lot -- they shall eat them.

3 H2088 וזה And this H1961 יהיה shall be H4941 משׁפט due H3548 הכהנים the priest's H853 מאת H5971 העם the people, H853 מאת H2076 זבחי them that offer H2077 הזבח a sacrifice, H518 אם whether H7794 שׁור ox H518 אם or H7716 שׂה sheep; H5414 ונתן and they shall give H3548 לכהן unto the priest H2220 הזרע the shoulder, H3895 והלחיים and the two cheeks, H6896 והקבה׃ and the maw.

4 H7225 ראשׁית The firstfruit H1715 דגנך of thy corn, H8492 תירשׁך of thy wine, H3323 ויצהרך and of thine oil, H7225 וראשׁית and the first H1488 גז of the fleece H6629 צאנך of thy sheep, H5414 תתן׃ shalt thou give

5 H3588 כי For H977 בו בחר hath chosen H3068 יהוה the LORD H430 אלהיך thy God H3605 מכל him out of all H7626 שׁבטיך thy tribes, H5975 לעמד to stand H8334 לשׁרת to minister H8034 בשׁם in the name H3068 יהוה of the LORD, H1931 הוא him H1121 ובניו and his sons H3605 כל forever. H3117 הימים׃ forever.

6 H3588 וכי And if H935 יבא come H3881 הלוי a Levite H259 מאחד from any H8179 שׁעריך of thy gates H3605 מכל out of all H3478 ישׂראל Israel, H834 אשׁר where H1931 הוא he H1481 גר sojourned, H8033 שׁם where H935 ובא and come H3605 בכל with all H185 אות the desire H5315 נפשׁו of his mind H413 אל unto H4725 המקום the place H834 אשׁר which H977 יבחר shall choose; H3068 יהוה׃ the LORD

7 H8334 ושׁרת Then he shall minister H8034 בשׁם in the name H3068 יהוה of the LORD H430 אלהיו his God, H3605 ככל as all H251 אחיו his brethren H3881 הלוים the Levites H5975 העמדים which stand H8033 שׁם there H6440 לפני before H3068 יהוה׃ the LORD.

8 H2506 חלק H2506 כחלק H398 יאכלו to eat, H905 לבד beside H4465 ממכריו that which cometh of the sale H5921 על of H1 האבות׃ his patrimony.

9 H3588 כי When H859 אתה thou H935 בא art come H413 אל into H776 הארץ the land H834 אשׁר which H3068 יהוה the LORD H430 אלהיך thy God H5414 נתן giveth H3808 לך לא thee, thou shalt not H3925 תלמד learn H6213 לעשׂות to do H8441 כתועבת after the abominations H1471 הגוים nations. H1992 ההם׃ of those

10 H3808 לא There shall not H4672 ימצא be found H5674 בך מעביר to pass through H1121 בנו among you that maketh his son H1323 ובתו or his daughter H784 באשׁ the fire, H7081 קסם divination, H7080 קסמים that useth H6049 מעונן an observer of times, H5172 ומנחשׁ or an enchanter, H3784 ומכשׁף׃ or a witch,

11 H2266 וחבר H2267 חבר H7592 ושׁאל or a consulter H178 אוב with familiar spirits, H3049 וידעני or a wizard, H1875 ודרשׁ or a necromancer. H413 אל H4191 המתים׃

12 H3588 כי For H8441 תועבת an abomination H3068 יהוה unto the LORD: H3605 כל all H6213 עשׂה that do H428 אלה these things H1558 ובגלל and because H8441 התועבת abominations H428 האלה of these H3068 יהוה the LORD H430 אלהיך thy God H3423 מורישׁ H853 אותם H6440 מפניך׃ from before

13 H8549 תמים perfect H1961 תהיה Thou shalt be H5973 עם with H3068 יהוה the LORD H430 אלהיך׃ thy God.

YLT⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ `There is not to the priests the Levites--all the tribe of Levi--a portion and inheritance with Israel; fire-offerings of Jehovah, even His inheritance, they eat, ² and he hath no inheritance in the midst of his brethren; Jehovah Himself is his inheritance, as He hath spoken to him. ³ `And this is the priest's right from the people, from those sacrificing a sacrifice, whether ox or sheep, he hath even given to the priest the leg, and the two cheeks, and the stomach; ⁴ the first of thy corn, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy flock, thou dost give to him; ⁵ for on him hath Jehovah thy God fixed, out of all thy tribes, to stand to serve in the name of Jehovah, He and his sons continually. ⁶ `And when the Levite cometh from one of thy cities out of all Israel, where he hath sojourned, and hath come with all the desire of his soul unto the place which Jehovah doth choose, ⁷ then he hath ministered in the name of Jehovah his God, like all his brethren, the Levites, who are standing there before Jehovah, ⁸ portion as portion they do eat, apart from his sold things, with the fathers.
⁹ `When thou art coming in unto the land which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee, thou dost not learn to do according to the abominations of those nations: ¹⁰ there is not found in thee one causing his son and his daughter to pass over into fire, a user of divinations, an observer of clouds, and an enchanter, and a sorcerer, ¹¹ and a charmer, and one asking at a familiar spirit, and a wizard, and one seeking unto the dead. ¹² `For the abomination of Jehovah is every one doing these, and because of these abominations is Jehovah thy God dispossessing them from thy presence. ¹³ Perfect thou art with Jehovah thy God, ¹⁴ for these nations whom thou art possessing, unto observers of clouds, and unto diviners, do hearken; and thou--not so hath Jehovah thy God suffered thee.
¹⁵ `A prophet out of thy midst, out of thy brethren, like to me, doth Jehovah thy God raise up to thee--unto him ye hearken; ¹⁶ according to all that thou didst ask from Jehovah thy God, in Horeb, in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not add to hear the voice of Jehovah my God, and this great fire let me not see any more, and I die not; ¹⁷ and Jehovah saith unto me, They have done well that they have spoken; ¹⁸ a prophet I raise up to them, out of the midst of their brethren, like to thee; and I have given my words in his mouth, and he hath spoken unto them all that which I command him; ¹⁹ and it hath been--the man who doth not hearken unto My words which he doth speak in My name, I require it of him. ²⁰ `Only, the prophet who presumeth to speak a word in My name--that which I have not commanded him to speak--and who speaketh in the name of other gods--even that prophet hath died. ²¹ `And when thou sayest in thy heart, How do we know the word which Jehovah hath not spoken? -- ²² that which the prophet speaketh in the name of Jehovah, and the thing is not, and cometh not--it is the word which Jehovah hath not spoken; in presumption hath the prophet spoken it; --thou art not afraid of him.

ASV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ The priests the Levites, even all the tribe of Levi, shall have no portion nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of Jehovah made by fire, and his inheritance. ² And they shall have no inheritance among their brethren: Jehovah is their inheritance, as he hath spoken unto them. ³ And this shall be the priests due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep, that they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw. ⁴ The first-fruits of thy grain, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou give him. ⁵ For Jehovah thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of Jehovah, him and his sons for ever. ⁶ And if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourneth, and come with all the desire of his soul unto the place which Jehovah shall choose; ⁷ then he shall minister in the name of Jehovah his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, who stand there before Jehovah. ⁸ They shall have like portions to eat, besides that which cometh of the sale of his patrimony. ⁹ When thou art come into the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. ¹⁰ There shall not be found with thee any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one that useth divination, one that practiseth augury, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, ¹¹ or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. ¹² For whosoever doeth these things is an abomination unto Jehovah: and because of these abominations Jehovah thy God doth drive them out from before thee. ¹³ Thou shalt be perfect with Jehovah thy God. ¹⁴ For these nations, that thou shalt dispossess, hearken unto them that practise augury, and unto diviners; but as for thee, Jehovah thy God hath not suffered thee so to do. ¹⁵ Jehovah thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; ¹⁶ according to all that thou desiredst of Jehovah thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of Jehovah my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. ¹⁷ And Jehovah said unto me, They have well said that which they have spoken. ¹⁸ I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. ¹⁹ And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. ²⁰ But the prophet, that shall speak a word presumptuously in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die. ²¹ And if thou say in thy heart, How shall we know the word which Jehovah hath not spoken? ²² when a prophet speaketh in the name of Jehovah, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which Jehovah hath not spoken: the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously, thou shalt not be afraid of him.
