Geneva(i) 1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme of David. I Waited paciently for the Lord, and he inclined vnto me, and heard my cry. 2 Hee brought mee also out of the horrible pit, out of the myrie clay, and set my feete vpon the rocke, and ordered my goings. 3 And he hath put in my mouth a new song of praise vnto our God: many shall see it and feare, and shall trust in the Lord. 4 Blessed is the man that maketh the Lord his trust, and regardeth not the proude, nor such as turne aside to lyes. 5 O Lord my God, thou hast made thy wonderfull workes so many, that none can count in order to thee thy thoughts toward vs: I would declare, and speake of them, but they are moe then I am able to expresse. 6 Sacrifice and offering thou didest not desire: (for mine eares hast thou prepared) burnt offring and sinne offering hast thou not required. 7 Then said I, Lo, I come: for in the rolle of the booke it is written of me, 8 I desired to doe thy good will, O my God: yea, thy Lawe is within mine heart. 9 I haue declared thy righteousnesse in the great Congregation: loe, I will not refraine my lippes: O Lord, thou knowest. 10 I haue not hidde thy righteousnesse within mine heart, but I haue declared thy trueth and thy saluation: I haue not conceiled thy mercy and thy trueth from the great Congregation. 11 Withdrawe not thou thy tender mercie from mee, O Lord: let thy mercie and thy trueth alway preserue me. 12 For innumerable troubles haue compassed mee: my sinnes haue taken such holde vpon me, that I am not able to looke vp: yea, they are moe in nomber then the heares of mine head: therefore mine heart hath failed me. 13 Let it please thee, O Lord, to deliuer mee: make haste, O Lord, to helpe me. 14 Let them be confounded and put to shame together, that seeke my soule to destroye it: let them be driuen backward and put to rebuke, that desire mine hurt. 15 Let them be destroyed for a rewarde of their shame, which say vnto me, Aha, aha. 16 Let all them, that seeke thee, reioyce and be glad in thee: and let them, that loue thy saluation, say alway, The Lord be praysed. 17 Though I be poore and needie, the Lord thinketh on mee: thou art mine helper and my deliuerer: my God, make no tarying.

  1 H5329 To the chief Musician [H8764]   H4210 , A Psalm H1732 of David H6960 . I waited [H8765]   H6960 patiently [H8763]   H3068 for the LORD H5186 ; and he inclined [H8799]   H8085 unto me, and heard [H8799]   H7775 my cry.
  2 H5927 He brought me up [H8686]   H7588 also out of an horrible H953 pit H3121 , out of the miry H2916 clay H6965 , and set [H8686]   H7272 my feet H5553 upon a rock H3559 , and established [H8790]   H838 my goings.
  3 H5414 And he hath put [H8799]   H2319 a new H7892 song H6310 in my mouth H8416 , even praise H430 unto our God H7227 : many H7200 shall see [H8799]   H3372 it, and fear [H8799]   H982 , and shall trust [H8799]   H3068 in the LORD.
  4 H835 Blessed H1397 is that man H7760 that maketh [H8804]   H3068 the LORD H4009 his trust H6437 , and respecteth [H8804]   H7295 not the proud H7750 , nor such as turn aside [H8802]   H3577 to lies.
5 H7227 Many H3068 , O LORD H430 my God H6381 , are thy wonderful [H8737]   H6213 works which thou hast done [H8804]   H4284 , and thy thoughts H6186 which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order [H8800]   H5046 unto thee: if I would declare [H8686]   H1696 and speak [H8762]   H6105 of them, they are more [H8804]   H5608 than can be numbered [H8763]  .
  6 H2077 Sacrifice H4503 and offering H2654 thou didst not desire [H8804]   H241 ; mine ears H3738 hast thou opened [H8804]   H5930 : burnt offering H2401 and sin offering H7592 hast thou not required [H8804]  .
  7 H559 Then said [H8804]   H935 I, Lo, I come [H8804]   H4039 : in the volume H5612 of the book H3789 it is written [H8803]   of me,
  8 H2654 I delight [H8804]   H6213 to do [H8800]   H7522 thy will H430 , O my God H8451 : yea, thy law H8432 is within H4578 my heart.
  9 H1319 I have preached [H8765]   H6664 righteousness H7227 in the great H6951 congregation H3607 : lo, I have not refrained [H8799]   H8193 my lips H3068 , O LORD H3045 , thou knowest [H8804]  .
  10 H3680 I have not hid [H8765]   H6666 thy righteousness H8432 within H3820 my heart H559 ; I have declared [H8804]   H530 thy faithfulness H8668 and thy salvation H3582 : I have not concealed [H8765]   H2617 thy lovingkindness H571 and thy truth H7227 from the great H6951 congregation.
11 H3607 Withhold [H8799]   H7356 not thou thy tender mercies H3068 from me, O LORD H2617 : let thy lovingkindness H571 and thy truth H8548 continually H5341 preserve [H8799]   me.
12 H4557 For innumerable H7451 evils H661 have compassed [H8804]   H5771 me about: mine iniquities H5381 have taken hold [H8689]   H3201 upon me, so that I am not able [H8804]   H7200 to look up [H8800]   H6105 ; they are more [H8804]   H8185 than the hairs H7218 of mine head H3820 : therefore my heart H5800 faileth [H8804]   me.
  13 H7521 Be pleased [H8798]   H3068 , O LORD H5337 , to deliver [H8687]   H3068 me: O LORD H2363 , make haste [H8798]   H5833 to help me.
14 H954 Let them be ashamed [H8799]   H2659 and confounded [H8799]   H3162 together H1245 that seek [H8764]   H5315 after my soul H5595 to destroy [H8800]   H5472 it; let them be driven [H8735]   H268 backward H3637 and put to shame [H8735]   H2655 that wish H7451 me evil.
  15 H8074 Let them be desolate [H8799]   H6118 for a reward H1322 of their shame H559 that say [H8802]   H1889 unto me, Aha H1889 , aha.
  16 H1245 Let all those that seek [H8764]   H7797 thee rejoice [H8799]   H8055 and be glad [H8799]   H157 in thee: let such as love [H8802]   H8668 thy salvation H559 say [H8799]   H8548 continually H3068 , The LORD H1431 be magnified [H8799]  .
  17 H6041 But I am poor H34 and needy H136 ; yet the Lord H2803 thinketh [H8799]   H5833 upon me: thou art my help H6403 and my deliverer [H8764]   H309 ; make no tarrying [H8762]   H430 , O my God.
YLT(i) 1 To the Overseer. --A Psalm of David. I have diligently expected Jehovah, And He inclineth to me, and heareth my cry, 2 And He doth cause me to come up From a pit of desolation--from mire of mud, And He raiseth up on a rock my feet, He is establishing my steps. 3 And He putteth in my mouth a new song, `Praise to our God.' Many do see and fear, and trust in Jehovah. 4 O the happiness of the man Who hath made Jehovah his trust, And hath not turned unto the proud, And those turning aside to lies. 5 Much hast Thou done, Jehovah my God; Thy wonders and Thy thoughts toward us, There is none to arrange unto Thee, I declare and speak: They have been more than to be numbered.
6 Sacrifice and present Thou hast not desired, Ears Thou hast prepared for me, Burnt and sin-offering Thou hast not asked. 7 Then said I, `Lo, I have come,' In the roll of the book it is written of me, 8 To do Thy pleasure, my God, I have delighted, And Thy law is within my heart. 9 I have proclaimed tidings of righteousness In the great assembly, lo, my lips I restrain not, O Jehovah, Thou hast known. 10 Thy righteousness I have not concealed In the midst of my heart, Thy faithfulness and Thy salvation I have told, I have not hidden Thy kindness and Thy truth, To the great assembly.
11 Thou, O Jehovah, restrainest not Thy mercies from me, Thy kindness and Thy truth do continually keep me. 12 For compassed me have evils innumerable, Overtaken me have mine iniquities, And I have not been able to see; They have been more than the hairs of my head, And my heart hath forsaken me. 13 Be pleased, O Jehovah, to deliver me, O Jehovah, for my help make haste. 14 They are ashamed and confounded together, Who are seeking my soul to destroy it, They are turned backward, And are ashamed, who are desiring my evil. 15 They are desolate because of their shame, Who are saying to me, `Aha, aha.' 16 All seeking Thee rejoice and are glad in Thee, Those loving Thy salvation say continually, `Jehovah is magnified.' 17 And I am poor and needy, The Lord doth devise for me. My help and my deliverer art Thou, O my God, tarry Thou not.
ASV(i) 1 I waited patiently for Jehovah; And he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. 2 He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay; And he set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. 3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: Many shall see it, and fear, And shall trust in Jehovah. 4 Blessed is the man that maketh Jehovah his trust, And respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. 5 Many, O Jehovah my God, are the wonderful works which thou hast done, And thy thoughts which are to us-ward; They cannot be set in order unto thee; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered. 6 Sacrifice and offering thou hast no delight in; Mine ears hast thou opened: Burnt-offering and sin-offering hast thou not required. 7 Then said I, Lo, I am come; In the roll of the book it is written of me: 8 I delight to do thy will, O my God; Yea, thy law is within my heart. 9 I have proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness in the great assembly; Lo, I will not refrain my lips, O Jehovah, thou knowest. 10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation; I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great assembly. 11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Jehovah; Let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. 12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about; Mine iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; They are more than the hairs of my head; And my heart hath failed me. 13 Be pleased, O Jehovah, to deliver me: Make haste to help me, O Jehovah. 14 Let them be put to shame and confounded together That seek after my soul to destroy it: Let them be turned backward and brought to dishonor That delight in my hurt. 15 Let them be desolate by reason of their shame That say unto me, Aha, aha. 16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: Let such as love thy salvation say continually, Jehovah be magnified. 17 But I am poor and needy; Yet the Lord thinketh upon me: Thou art my help and my deliverer; Make no tarrying, O my God.
