21 G2532 And G3756 [²did not G2309 ³want G* ¹Edom] G1325 to give permission G3588 G* to Israel G3928 to go G1223 through G3588 G3725 his borders. G1473 G2532 And G1578 Israel turned aside G* G575 from G1473 him.

23 G2532 And G2036 the lord said G2962 G4314 to G* Moses G2532 and G* Aaron G1722 in G* Hor, G3588 in the G3735 mountain, G1909 upon G3588 the G3725 borders G3588 of the G1093 land G* of Edom, G3004 saying,

24 G4369 Let Aaron be added G* G4314 to G3588 G2992 his people, G1473 G3754 for G3766.2 in no way G1525 should he enter G1519 into G3588 the G1093 land G3739 which G1325 I have given G3588 to the G5207 sons G* of Israel, G1360 because G3947 you provoked G1473 me G1909 at G3588 the G5204 Water G3588 G485 of Dispute.

25 G2983 Take G3588 G* Aaron G2532 and G* Eleazar G3588 G5207 his son, G1473 G2532 and G307 haul G1473 them G1519 unto G* Hor G3588 the G3735 mountain!

26 G2532 And G1562 take off G* of Aaron G3588 G4749 his apparel, G1473 G2532 and G1746 put it on G* Eleazar G3588 G5207 his son! G1473 G2532 And G* Aaron, G4369 having been added to his people, G599 let him die G1563 there!

27 G2532 And G4160 Moses did G* G2505 as G4929 the lord gave orders G2962 G1473 to him, G2532 and G307 he hauled G1473 them G1519 unto G* Hor G3588 the G3735 mountain G1726 before G3956 all G3588 the G4864 congregation.

Geneva⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ Then the children of Israel came with ye whole Congregation to the desert of Zin in the first moneth, and the people abode at Cadesh: where Miriam died, and was buried there. ² But there was no water for the Congregation, and they assembled them selues against Moses and against Aaron. ³ And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God we had perished, when our brethren died before the Lord. ⁴ Why haue ye thus brought the Congregation of the Lord vnto his wildernesse, that both we, and our cattell should die there? ⁵ Wherefore nowe haue yee made vs to come vp from Egypt, to bring vs into this miserable place, which is no place of seede, nor figges, nor vines, nor pomegranates? neither is there any water to drinke. ⁶ Then Moses and Aaron went from the assemblie vnto the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and fell vpon their faces: and the glory of the Lord appeared vnto them. ⁷ And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying, ⁸ Take the rod, and gather thou and thy brother Aaron the Congregation together, and speake yee vnto the rocke before their eyes, and it shall giue foorth his water, and thou shalt bring them water out of the rocke: so thou shalt giue the Congregation, and their beastes drinke. ⁹ Then Moses tooke the rod from before the Lord, as he had commanded him. ¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron gathered the Congregation together before the rocke, and Moses sayd vnto them, Heare nowe, ye rebels: shall we bring you water out of this rocke? ¹¹ Then Moses lift vp his hande, and with his rod he smote the rocke twise, and the water came out aboundantly: so the Congregation, and their beastes dranke. ¹² Againe the Lord spake vnto Moses, and to Aaron, Because ye beleeued me not, to sanctifie mee in the presence of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this Congregation into the land which I haue giuen them. ¹³ This is the water of Meribah, because the children of Israel stroue with the Lord, and hee was sanctified in them. ¹⁴ Then Moses sent messengers from Kadesh vnto the king of Edom, saying, Thus sayth thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the trauaile that we haue had, ¹⁵ How our fathers went downe into Egypt, and we dwelt in Egypt a long time, where the Egyptians handled vs euill and our fathers. ¹⁶ But when we cried vnto the Lord, he heard our voyce, and sent an Angel, and hath brought vs out of Egypt, and beholde, wee are in the citie Kadesh, in thine vtmost border. ¹⁷ I pray thee that we may passe through thy countrey: we will not goe through the fieldes nor the vineyardes, neither will we drinke of the water of the welles: we will goe by the kings way, and neither turne vnto the right hand nor to the left, vntill we be past thy borders. ¹⁸ And Edom answered him, Thou shalt not passe by mee, least I come out against thee with the sword. ¹⁹ Then the children of Israel said vnto him, We will goe vp by the hie way: and if I and my cattell drinke of thy water, I will then pay for it: I will onely (without any harme) goe through on my feete. ²⁰ Hee answered againe, Thou shalt not goe through. The Edom came out against him with much people, and with a mightie power. ²¹ Thus Edom denyed to giue Israel passage through his countrey: wherefore Israel turned away from him. ²² And when the children of Israel with al the Congregation departed from Kadesh, they came vnto the mount Hor. ²³ And the Lord spake vnto Moses and to Aaron in the mount Hor neere the coast of the land of Edom, saying, ²⁴ Aaron shall be gathered vnto his people: for hee shall not enter into the lande, which I haue giuen vnto the children of Israel, because ye disobeyed my commandement at the water of Meribah. ²⁵ Take Aaron and Eleazar his sonne, and bring them vp into the mount Hor, ²⁶ And cause Aaron to put off his garmentes and put them vpon Eleazar his sonne: for Aaron shall be gathered to his fathers, and shall die there. ²⁷ And Moses did as the Lord had commanded: and they went vp into the mount Hor, in the sight of all the Congregation. ²⁸ And Moses put off Aarons clothes, and put them vpon Eleazar his sonne: so Aaron dyed there in the top of the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came downe from off the mount. ²⁹ When al the Congregation sawe that Aaron was dead, al the house of Israel wept for Aaron thirtie dayes.

14 H4872 And Moses H7971 sent [H8799] H4397 messengers H6946 from Kadesh H4428 unto the king H123 of Edom H559 , Thus saith [H8804] H251 thy brother H3478 Israel H3045 , Thou knowest [H8804] H8513 all the travail H4672 that hath befallen [H8804] us:

25 H3947 Take [H8798] H175 Aaron H499 and Eleazar H1121 his son H5927 , and bring them up [H8685] H2022 unto mount H2023 Hor:

26 H6584 And strip [H8685] H175 Aaron H899 of his garments H3847 , and put [H8689] H499 them upon Eleazar H1121 his son H175 : and Aaron H622 shall be gathered [H8735] H4191 unto his people, and shall die [H8804] there.

27 H4872 And Moses H6213 did [H8799] H3068 as the LORD H6680 commanded [H8765] H5927 : and they went up [H8799] H2022 into mount H2023 Hor H5869 in the sight H5712 of all the congregation.

28 H4872 And Moses H6584 stripped [H8686] H175 Aaron H899 of his garments H3847 , and put [H8686] H499 them upon Eleazar H1121 his son H175 ; and Aaron H4191 died [H8799] H7218 there in the top H2022 of the mount H4872 : and Moses H499 and Eleazar H3381 came down [H8799] H2022 from the mount.

29 H5712 And when all the congregation H7200 saw [H8799] H175 that Aaron H1478 was dead [H8804] H1058 , they mourned [H8799] H175 for Aaron H7970 thirty H3117 days H1004 , even all the house H3478 of Israel.

YLT⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ And the sons of Israel come in, --all the company--to the wilderness of Zin, in the first month, and the people abide in Kadesh, and Miriam dieth there, and is buried there. ² And there hath been no water for the company, and they are assembled against Moses, and against Aaron, ³ and the people strive with Moses, and speak, saying, `And oh that we had expired when our brethren expired before Jehovah! ⁴ and why have ye brought in the assembly of Jehovah unto this wilderness to die there, we and our beasts? ⁵ and why hast thou brought us up out of Egypt to bring us in unto this evil place? no place of seed, and fig, and vine, and pomegranate; and water there is none to drink. ⁶ And Moses and Aaron go in from the presence of the assembly unto the opening of the tent of meeting, and fall on their faces, and the honour of Jehovah is seen by them. ⁷ And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying, ⁸ `Take the rod, and assemble the company, thou and Aaron thy brother; and ye have spoken unto the rock before their eyes, and it hath given its water, and thou hast brought out to them water from the rock, and hast watered the company, and their beasts.' ⁹ And Moses taketh the rod from before Jehovah, as He hath commanded him, ¹⁰ and Moses and Aaron assemble the assembly unto the front of the rock, and he saith to them, `Hear, I pray you, O rebels, from this rock do we bring out to you water?' ¹¹ and Moses lifteth up his hand, and smiteth the rock with his rod twice; and much water cometh out, and the company drink, also their beasts. ¹² And Jehovah saith unto Moses, and unto Aaron, `Because ye have not believed in Me to sanctify Me before the eyes of the sons of Israel, therefore ye do not bring in this assembly unto the land which I have given to them.' ¹³ These are waters of Meribah, because the sons of Israel have `striven' with Jehovah, and He is sanctified upon them.
¹⁴ And Moses sendeth messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, `Thus said thy brother Israel, Thou--thou hast known all the travail which hath found us; ¹⁵ that our fathers go down to Egypt, and we dwell in Egypt many days, and the Egyptians do evil to us and to our fathers; ¹⁶ and we cry unto Jehovah, and He heareth our voice, and sendeth a messenger, and is bringing us out of Egypt; and lo, we are in Kadesh, a city in the extremity of thy border. ¹⁷ Let us pass over, we pray thee, through thy land; we pass not over through a field, or through a vineyard, nor do we drink waters of a well; the way of the king we go, we turn not aside--right or left--till that we pass over thy border.' ¹⁸ And Edom saith unto him, `Thou dost not pass over through me, lest with sword I come out to meet thee.' ¹⁹ And the sons of Israel say unto him, `In the highway we go, and if of thy waters we drink--I and my cattle--then I have given their price; only (it is nothing) on my feet I pass over.' ²⁰ And he saith, `Thou dost not pass over;' and Edom cometh out to meet him with much people, and with a strong hand; ²¹ and Edom refuseth to suffer Israel to pass over through his border, and Israel turneth aside from off him.
²² And the sons of Israel, the whole company, journey from Kadesh, and come in unto mount Hor, ²³ and Jehovah speaketh unto Moses and unto Aaron in mount Hor, on the border of the land of Edom, saying, ²⁴ `Aaron is gathered unto his people, for he doth not go in unto the land which I have given to the sons of Israel, because that ye provoked My mouth at the waters of Meribah. ²⁵ `Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and cause them to go up mount Hor, ²⁶ and strip Aaron of his garments, and thou hast clothed with them Eleazar his son, and Aaron is gathered, and doth die there.' ²⁷ And Moses doth as Jehovah hath commanded, and they go up unto mount Hor before the eyes of all the company, ²⁸ and Moses strippeth Aaron of his garments, and clotheth with them Eleazar his son, and Aaron dieth there on the top of the mount; and Moses cometh down--Eleazar also--from the mount, ²⁹ and all the company see that Aaron hath expired, and they bewail Aaron thirty days--all the house of Israel.

And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand. ²¹ Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border: wherefore Israel turned away from him. ²² And they journeyed from Kadesh: and the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came unto mount Hor. ²³ And Jehovah spake unto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom, saying, ²⁴ Aaron shall be gathered unto his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the waters of Meribah. ²⁵ Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up unto mount Hor; ²⁶ and strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be gathered unto his people, and shall die there. ²⁷ And Moses did as Jehovah commanded: and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation. ²⁸ And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there on the top of the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount. ²⁹ And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they wept for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.
